Alexander Calder was a precocious young artist – he made his first kinetic sculpture, a tiny brass duck, at the age of 11 as a Christmas present for his parents. Of course, as an adult, he originated the art form of the mobile, which is now a must-have toy for every baby, since babies love gazing up at them.
The African Savannah Mobile from Djeco is a gorgeous and detailed mobile that will enchant your new baby, and perhaps get her started on a precocious appreciation of art. Djeco's illustrators created an entire savannah scene, with a giraffe, an elephant, lions, an ostrich, a leopard, and more, gathered around a huge old tree with monkeys swinging from the branches. The die-cut plastic shapes are hung on sturdy metal hangers. Basic assembly required; easy instructions are included. Assembled, about 19"H x 31"W.
