Many cultures have a rich tradition of creating art with sand. The Tibetan Buddhists create stunning mandalas in sand, which are both created and destroyed according to traditional rituals. The Navajo Indians of the American southwest also created beautiful sand paintings for healing rituals. Sand painting even enjoyed a brief vogue in Britain in the 1800s, but the impermanency of sand art kept it from becoming a lasting tradition; famed British sand artist George Haas was outraged to find that one of his works at Windsor Castle was destroyed when a cat chose it as a cozy site for a nap!
Artisands kits allow kids to create sand art that sticks around, with the clever "Sandesign" system. With the ArtiSands Mini Fantasy Kit from Best of Best Toys, kids can color in sand pictures of unicorns, pixies, fairies, and castles – just peel off a section of the Sandesign, sprinkle sand into the revealed sticky area, and rub it in. It's a fun and easy craft with a unique look. Includes designs (two of each style), 9 tubes of non-toxic sand in shaker tubes, and a carrying box.
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
