About the Baby Jogger City Mini GT Stroller 2013

In Aesop’s tale of the Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, the country mouse discovers that the urban life is more exciting, and the food is better, but the city is a scary place compared to the sedate pace of the countryside. He has to make a choice: the comforts of the country, or the sights of the city?

In the best-laid schemes of mice and moms, there’s no need to choose! The City Mini GT stroller from Baby Jogger adds all-terrain capability and luxurious padding to the well-loved City Mini stroller, while maintaining the light weight and convenience that makes the City Mini an urban favorite. The City Mini GT expands on the environments that the City Mini can handle – and it can accommodate bigger kids, too!

A quick rundown of what makes the Baby Jogger City Mini GT baby stroller different from its predecessor:

  • The City Mini GT boasts all-terrain air-filled tires with sealed ball bearings. But don’t worry about flats: they’re polyfilled never-flat wheels that won’t let you down!
  • The stroller seat on the City Mini GT is 2” deeper than the 2011 City Mini model, and the seat back is also 1.5” taller, with 3” more clearance in the opened canopy. Plus, the weight limit is raised to 65 pounds. So big babies and big kids can get a lift in this stroller for many years to come! Plus, there’s even more luxurious padding in the seat.
  • Instead of the step-brake on the original City Mini, the City Mini GT has a convenient hand-brake.Taller moms and dads, Baby Jogger listened to your pleas: the City Mini GT has an adjustable handlebar!

Don’t worry about the City Mini baby stroller losing any of its advantages to all of this tinkering; at 21 pounds, it’s still a relatively light stroller with the same wonderfully compact fold. And speaking of folds, that hasn’t changed at all: the City Mini GT stroller still has that incredibly easy fold that City Mini fans love. Just pull a strap in the center of the seat, and the stroller folds in half. One hand, one step, no fuss, no problem! There’s even a brand-new fold lock, which makes your City Mini GT easier to carry when it’s folded.

As with the original, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT stroller has:

  • A universal accessory mounting bracket, for car seat adapters, snack trays, etc. – check out our selection of Baby Jogger stroller accessories;
  • An easy to adjust recline, which can recline nearly flat, for happy napping;
  • A locking swivel front wheel with suspension, to cushion the bumps;
  • A generously-sized under-seat storage basket, which is now easier to access over a U-shaped rear bar;
  • A 5-point stroller safety harness with shoulder pads and buckle covers;
  • And a huge multi-position sun canopy with peek-a-boo windows, so you can check on your sleeping kiddo on the go.

A stylish carbon graphite-colored frame finishes off the City Mini baby stroller’s new look – check out the pictures above for the new colors, as well.

Whether you do most of your strolling in the suburbs or the subways, with the Baby Jogger City Mini GT, your baby will never notice the difference. Town Moms and Country Moms, rejoice!

Almost Perfect

1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
Pros:

Smooth ride, versatile, super easy fold

Cons:

Basket!!!

We bought the Citi Mini GT in blue for our daughter. It's a great stroller - turns on a dime, easy to fold, not too heavy. The only complaint that we have is that the basket sucks. It's hard to put things underneath and to pull them out. And the stroller becomes tippy if you attach your diaper bag to the handlebars. Other than that, it's amazing.

City Mini GT

3 out of 3 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Handles beautifully, quick and easy one-handed fold, less bulky than others in its class

Cons:

Small and hard to reach basket

This is the smallest of the strollers that we looked at, and we bought it because I am petite and we live in a walk-up. It folds really easily and when folded is much more compact than other strollers. The one-handed fold is key. It is still a little cumbersome for a small person going up stairs, but still the least cumbersome we could find. For walks, it handles so well on the bumpy sidewalks, so it's great for longer walks. For a younger or smaller baby, it feels a little big, so we bring a blanket and roll up the sides for padding. This will not be an issue as he grows into it, and for very young ones, there is an optional car seat adapter. The basket needs improvement, it isn't practical. It is hard to get into from the back, and while easier to access from the side, it's still tiny. Despite the cons it us still the smaller of the strollers we looked at so is compact and light compared to others, and handles so nicely. One thing to note, read the specs if you are looking to jog, don't let the name of the Baby Jogger brand confuse you, I think they advise against jogging with this stroller.

My entire family loves this!

Pros:

easy to maneuver, comfortable ride for infant, adjustable handlebars are amazing, my 5 y/o fits in it

Cons:

for the price, the raincover should be included

I LOVE this buggy and so does my husband, my 5 y/o daughter and her 2 mos old baby brother. We use it daily for errands around town, power walks and my husband has taken our daughter out in it for a morning jog (she just fits!). It handles great, including "off road," looks great and fits in our trunk with ease. I wish we had invested in something like this when our first child was born. For now, I am SO thrilled that we have it now and anticipate it serving our needs well as the little guy grows.

The Perfect Stroller for Us

3 out of 3 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Easy To Set Up, Durable, Easily Stowed, Lightweight, Easy To Steer, Comfortable, Sturdy

We liked the City Mini because of the lightweight design and easy fold feature but knowing that we were going to be walking A LOT with the stroller especially around the reservoirs and bumpy Brookline sidewalks, we knew we needed something with more durable wheels, so the GT has been perfect for us.

Smooth sailing with the GT!

Pros:

Easy To Set Up, Easy To Steer, Lightweight, Durable, Comfortable, Easily Stowed, Sturdy

We searched high and low for a stroller to meet all of our desires. The GT is wonderful. Among my favorite features are the adjustable handle (that can be really high!), the easy of steering, smoothness of the ride, the hand-lock, and the easy-fold. We have encountered only two cons. 1) The back wheels are off-set from the frame of the stroller - they stick out about 2 inches on each side of the stroller. Because of this, we tend to often hit the back tires on the edges of things since your eye-sight is the width of the stroller - not the width of the wheels. Just something to keep in mind. 2) Also, while the accessability to the under-basket might be improved from earlier City Mini models, it is still not great. These two issues will provide Baby Jogger with things to improve upon in future years with the GT. All of that said, this was the best stroller we found after lots of research and we would definitely purchaase it again.

Love this stroller!

0 out of 1 person found this review helpful
Pros:

Durable, Sturdy, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Easy To Steer, Easily Stowed

We LOVE our Baby Jogger Mini GT. It has the adjustable handle height for my tall husband, and collapses very small to fit in any car. It is easy to steer, and the extended cover keeps the sun off of the little one.

Many advantages, a few disadvantages

1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
Pros:

Easily Stowed, Sturdy, Easy To Set Up, Easy To Steer, Lightweight

The advantages offered in the GT over the City Mini are well worth the price tag. We've taken it over severely potholed dirt roads without a problem - the tires are very rugged and steering is excellent. The adjustable bar makes it possible for both my husband and me to feel like it's built perfectly for our size. And it's still lightweight enough that I can hold my 20 lb toddler in one arm and retrieve the stroller from the car and set it up with the other. But also heavy enough that when I'm pushing the stroller and my leashed dog lunges at another dog in play, we're not knocked over. The easy fold up and set up mechanism that convinced me to buy this line is as great as I'd hoped. I love the enormous sunshade and find it sufficient on rainy days, as long as I throw a light-weight slicker over my daughter's feet (no rain shield needed).

We've traveled once by plane with the GT and it was fine. I would have preferred a travel bag that was less expensive and less fancy (we bought the one designed by Baby Jogger for the GT), but it did the trick. To store the stroller, you have to remove all of the wheels, which is easy enough to do, as long as you aren't on your own and have someone else willing to watch your baby for the 3 minutes it takes to store the wheels in the bag and slide the stroller in.

What I don't like are the shoulder straps. Somehow they are difficult to loosen and get easily twisted up. Mostly I just let them be twisted a little and my daughter doesn't really mind. Also, I wish there were a way to attach a second seat. (I bought this stroller about a month before I found out I was pregnant with my second child.)

But my main complaint is that the seat feels fairly deep and, even when the sun canopy is up, my daughter's view is somewhat limited (unlike, for example, the City Select where baby can see more). My daughter does very well in other outdoor vehicles, but she won't stay in the GT for that long and I think it's because she'd rather be closer to the action. It's possible that as my daughter grows (she's small for 15 months), this will be less of a problem.

Handles well in Urban Jungle

3 out of 3 people found this review helpful
Pros:

Generous canopy cover, Sturdy, Easy To Steer, Easy To Set Up

Cons:

Bulky, Too reclined

Was looking for a stroller to travel with, one that would be easier to fold than our Bugaboo. Figured that since baby was getting bigger, we no longer needed the rear-facing feature, so we could consider the Baby Jogger City Mini GT. The handling of the Baby Jogger is comparable to the Bugaboo. It does fold down easier (the Bugaboo involves taking off the seat and this one just collapses with a pull), but is not really any more compact than the Bugaboo frame, so it still takes up quite a bit of cargo space. We bought the travel bag as well (in anticipation for a flight) -- turns out we'll have to take the wheels off to put it in the bag (like the Bugaboo -- again, however, no removal of the seat).

The seat is more reclined, so if your kid likes to sit upright and take in all the sights, you might need to prop him/her up with a pillow or bolster.

I do miss the rear-facing feature. The large window in the canopy helps a little to make up for it because I can see what the kid is up to (but can't talk face to face). On misty or windy days, the canopy offers great coverage so that most of the time we don't have to put the rain cover on. When it's pouring and we put the rain cover on, there is a large window with velcro that makes it easy to access the kid.

Great Stroller

1 out of 1 person found this review helpful
Pros:

Easily Stowed, Holds kids big small, Easy To Set Up, Comfortable, Durable, Easy To Steer

Cons:

Front wheel locks on own

I like the handle bar is adjustable, I like the ride it is smooth with the rubber wheels on the city sidewalks that are far from smooth, I like how easy it is to fold and put in the car. It is a little heavier than I would like but worth it for the other features. The sun canopy is awesome. The one draw back that I think they should fix is the front wheel lock, especially when you have heavier kids 30/40 lbs locks on its own and I feel like I am always unlocking it so I can steer. I also wish the basket was easier to get into. I know they just improved this but I think they need to improve it more, my backpack is not that big and it is soooo hard to get in I usually put it on the handle bar which of course says don't do that but I hate to fight to get it in. That said the ride is so smooth it is really sturdy and easy to take everywhere but also smaller and not too bulky I love the stroller and would love some fixes.
