About the Baby Jogger City Select Stroller 2013

With small children, versatility is a must. Think about all the roles you have to play as a parent: nutritionist, preschool teacher, lullaby-singer, curer of boo-boos…

So it helps to have a baby stroller that’s as versatile as you are, and the 2012 Baby Jogger City Select doesn’t disappoint. With 16 possible tandem seating configurations, you can perfectly tweak where your baby/babies are sitting for everyone’s comfort. If you’re on Baby #1 and anticipating Baby #2, getting a City Select is a smart move, since the flexible single/double configurations mean that it may be the only baby stroller you need.

The 2012 model of the Baby Jogger City Select has almost no changes from previous models – why mess with success? There is one new color available, Quartz, which is a sporty khaki cleverly chosen to disguise dirt. The same purple, red, and black that you love are still available as well.

The City Select starts as a single stroller. You can use the Baby Jogger City Select Bassinet Kit [http://mbeans.com/baby-jogger-city-select-bassinet-kit.html] or an infant car seat adapter for your newborn and graduate up to the toddler seat. Then, when your family expands, get the optional bassinet kit, City Select Second Seat, and/or car seat adapter, and start getting creative.

Folding up the Baby Jogger City Select stroller is just as easy as setting it up. Using the patented Baby Jogger Quick-Fold technology, you can easily collapse your City Select stroller for travel or storage. The secure latch keeps the stroller locked in formation, making it easy to take it from place to place.

Of course, since there may be a lot of baby on board, the City Select Stroller needs some great wheels and suspension to keep it comfy for the kids and easy for you to steer. The 12” forever-air rear tires and 8” dual front wheels are generously sized for a smooth ride, and front-wheel suspension cushions the bumps. The stroller’s front wheels swivel for easy navigation, and can be locked for rougher terrain – reviewers say that this baby stroller has no problem with grass, mud, sand, or dirt. For your comfort (and Dad’s), the City Select stroller’s handlebar telescopes for adjustable height. And the enormous stroller basket is designed to be accessible from many angles, so you can stow groceries, your diaper bag, and more.

The City Select also boasts a generously sized sun canopy with a handy peek-a-boo window and adjustable height – you can add up to 4 inches so tall kids have room.

All in all, the Baby Jogger City Select maintains the delightful versatility and pizzazz you remember from last year. And like your family, it’s great at any size.

MAGIC BEANS STAFF TIP: The second seat is exactly the same as the first seat, so there won’t be any squabbling over who gets the better seat!

Please note: The seat on the City Select stroller is recommended for children who are 6 months and up. To use this stroller with a newborn, we recommend purchasing the City Select bassinet and/or car seat adapter.

Thrilled with our City Select!
February 5th, 2013

We're extremely happy with our City Select stroller. This was an upgrade from a Chicco which, when we weren't living in the city and our son was an infant, was great. But we really needed a stroller that can take a lot of walking on uneven sidewalks and terrain, such as Fresh Pond. The storage underneath the seat is very roomy - fits 2 diaper bags with space leftover! It was very easy to assemble as well.

The only slight inconveniences that I'm sure we'll grow used to are the stroller being a bit more awkward to carry up/down stairs when folded, its not being able to be stored upright in the folded position and (this is my personal pet peeve) the zippers on the storage basket underneath being tricky to access given their being right up against the 'legs' of the back wheels.

The pros far, far, far outweigh the cons on this stroller. We are overall extremely happy with our purchase, and this includes our son!

The almost perfect stroller??
October 31st, 2012
Pros:

Sturdy, Ability to convert

Cons:

Car seat adaptors not car seat specific.

I have owned many strollers- I admit I may be an addict. I owned an UPPAbaby Vista with my first daughter when due with #2 I knew there was no way she would sit in the rumble seat of the Vista. I always had the Select in my mind as the ideal double and so far- it is living up to those expectations. Although we have not used it with #2, I love how it will adapt to our daily and chaining needs. The biggest pro for me is that my 22 month old daughter will not be forced to look at the back of a seat like with the vista. She will actually be able to see things when we go to the zoo etc- novel idea huh!?!? Only thing I find as a downfall is that we have a Chicco carseat and the adaptor is not made for specific brands, I wish it was so the seat had a more snug fit in the adaptor.

So far a great stroller!

Pros:

Easy To Steer

Cons:

Doesn't Clip in Easily, Heavy

I did a fair amount of research on strollers and picked this one in particular because of how easy it will be to add a second seat when we have another baby. (I'm not a huge fan of the ones where one child is essentially underneath the other, or relegated to riding a little skateboard thing without any other options.) For the City Select, you can arrange the seats in a variety of configurations (both kids facing front, both facing back, one facing front, one facing back) and it's "stadium seating" so one is slightly higher than the other.

Pros: Turns on a dime, handles very well, extremely intuitive design, very large storage basket underneath, adjustable handle so it's comfortable for my 6'2'' husband and for me at 5'3''.

Cons:

Clipping in the baby carseat: There is a universal converter that can be used for many popular carseat brands (I have a Graco). But it's not as secure as the bucket that you just drop it into in the car. It's basically a bar that you balance the carseat on and then strap it in. I'm slightly exaggerating, it's a little more secure than that, but that is essentially the design of it. I expected a bit more from both Graco and Baby Jogger, especially because everything else about this stroller feels so secure, sturdy and well-designed. It always makes me a bit nervous when I clip the carseat in and I spend a minute checking it to make sure it is secure. That being said, once baby is old enough (4 months I think?) to sit in the City Select seat that came with the stroller, I think things will be much better!

It also doesn't stand up when folded which is annoying.

I love this stroller! It is the best!
June 28th, 2012
Pros:

Lightweight, Durable, Sturdy, Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Easily Stowed, Easy To Steer

We use our stroller when we go places with our children. I love that you can do many different postions with it, and that the children don't have to look at each others backs.

Great overall double stroller
June 24th, 2012
Pros:

Sturdy, Easily Stowed, Easy To Set Up, Comfortable, Durable

Cons:

Heavy

This is a great versatile stroller that can switch from a single to double in a flash. We love the ability to switch seats to face towards us or away, and the basket underneath has ample room for storage. The stroller is easy to set up and break down. Only con is that it is BIG, and drives a little like an SUV. But it is narrow unlike side-by-side strollers, and overall manuvers well.

Pros:

Easy To Set Up, Durable, Sturdy, Comfortable, Easy To Steer

So, I tried a few fancy doubles (Phil and Ted - ugh, and the side-by-side, double ugh) and this stroller rocks. Easy to set up. Easy to stow in the car and my kids love it. I've got a three year old and 6 month old and I couldn't be happier. And it sure is STURDY and well made.
