Magic Beans Bath Toys Bath ToysCharlie Brown once defended “Pig-Pen,” the perpetually filthy child in the Peanuts cartoons, as follows:
“Don't think of it as dust. Just think of it as the dirt and dust of far-off lands blowing over here and settling on ‘Pig-Pen!’ It staggers the imagination! He may be carrying the soil that was trod upon by Solomon or Nebuchadnezzar or Genghis Khan!”
That excuse doesn’t fly with you, though – your kid is gonna be clean, and he’s going to like it! And the best way to get kids to like baths is to give them some really fun bath toys. The smallest bathers just want to be distracted in the bath; they like bath toys that float, and that can be observed, examined, and perhaps chewed. You can start using bath squirters with babies – demonstrate how the Alex Toys Bath Squirters work, and then watch your baby manipulate their soft bodies until he discovers how to get water to come out. Giggles galore! Babies also love filling toys with water and dumping them out – the Stack And Nest Cups from Kid O are perfect for this.
Kids who are a little older will want bath toys that encourage imaginative play, like the hilarious Shaving In the Tub set or Tub Crayons, both from Alex Toys.
When the fun is done, a lot of these toys come with their own storage cases, but if they don’t, we’ve got great options from Skip Hop and other manufacturers. The key to avoiding mold is to get everything clean and dry fast, so don’t forget to get all of your bath toys out of the tub and into storage with good air circulation, quick!
