It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… a smash hit board game that has the world obsessed. Created by a French mathematician (who also happens to be a biophysicist and engineer), this game was born out of some serious smarts. If you visit Blokus’ official website, you will see just how big of a deal this game is. There are community forums and blogs for avid fans, an on-line version that’s played in dozens of countries and even glossy Japanese TV ad spots.
Yeah, it can be daunting to read about all the awards won and popularity gained by this board game, but Blokus deserves the hype. It is incredibly easy to learn, requires no fancy set up, and can happily played by your kindergartener or your mother. It’s beautifully simple and you’ll play it for years.
To get started, grab a friend or two. The game can be played by two, three, or four players. The goal is for each player to fit as many of his or her twenty-one pieces on the board as possible. The catch is that each of your pieces must touch at least one other piece of the same color – and only at the corners. Hm. Should you ally with another player? Should you concentrate on blocking your opponent or advancing over the board? There are endless approaches to Blokus and your family will love playing it, whether it’s a twenty minute session before breakfast or an all-out competition on a Sunday afternoon.
Game Includes:
A game board with 400 squares
84 pieces (21 pieces in each of the four colors)
Each of the 21 pieces has a different shape
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
