Frequently Asked Questions
Am I eligible?
This program is open to many expecting and nursing mothers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Why is it free?
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) states that health insurance plans must cover breastfeeding equipment with no cost sharing (no deductible or co-pay) for female members. This benefit applies to non-grandfathered plans with renewals starting on or after August 1, 2012.
How do I order my breast pump?
In order to obtain a breast pump covered by your insurance, you must buy your breast pump from an in-network durable medical equipment company (DME). Acelleron, a DME supplier, submits the completed form to your insurance company and then ships your breast pump directly to you (with free shipping!) at no cost. Please note that purchasing a breast pump from a store that is not a DME (example: Buy Buy Baby or Babies R Us) will most likely not be covered by your insurance.
Please call Acelleron directly with any questions at 1-877-932-6327.
