The Aton 3 and Aton Q are very similar. They are both improvements of the Aton 2 Infant Car Seat. Some updates that they share include:
Better sun canopy
Improved Linear Side Impact protection system
The main difference between the Aton 3 (which will not be available in the US) and the Aton Q is that the Linear Side Impact Protection (LSP) system in Aton Q has moved to the rear of the seat, increasing its safety by up to 30%.
Who knew safety could look so stylish? The new Cybex Aton Q Infant Car Seat combines beauty with brains, merging a sleek and futuristic look with truly impressive safety qualifications. We’re taking pre-orders today, with seats shipping starting in April 2014!
Innovative safety features on the Cybex Aton Q infant car seat include:
Linear Side-Impact Protection (LSP): The LSP system has been upgraded from the Aton 2 to telescope outwards; these pull-out protectors look like little robotic arms, but they’re not toys! Pull out the LSP on the side of your car seat that’s facing the door of the car, and the first forces of the accident are transferred and distributed into the car seat’s shell, which will absorb the forces and channel them away from your baby. The increase in safety tested at 40%!
Load leg: This simple feature in the base of the Cybex Aton Q infant car seat is more common in Europe than in the US, but it’s incredibly effective: it improves the Forward Rotation rating on the seat by at least 42%, and improves the head injury criterion (HIC) by 48%. In non-technical language: improving rotation reduces the stress on your child’s neck and head in the event of a collision, helping to distribute the force into the back of the car seat instead.
Height-adjustable headrest and harness: The new 8-position height-adjustable headrest takes the harness with it, so you don’t have to rethread the harness to adjust it, taking the effort out of making it fit your child perfectly! The harness also has extra-wide Y-harness straps with a soft belt and crotch pads, for comfort.
Flat positioning: Before babies develop the strength to hold their head up, their head can tilt forward in a way that can cause breathing issues. The Aton Q Infant Car Seat is designed to produce the flattest possible lying angle between the head, neck, and chest, for easy breathing for preemies and tiny newborns.
Easy installation: Like the Aton 2, the Cybex Aton Q infant car seat’s base is simple to install correctly (and correct installation is key) – belt-tensioning plates make it simple with LATCH or safety belts. You can also use the seat without the base, so it’s easy to safely take your baby along in a cab.
The Cybex Aton Q Infant Car Seat is also a thoroughly attractive and modern-looking: bold colors, a streamlined shape, and nifty silver accents (just a little robotic-looking) will draw ooohs and aaahs! The XXL fold-away canopy curves over your child like a cocoon, providing UVP 50+ sun protection and wind-protection too; it can be extended incrementally, or tucked away entirely. The Aton Q will be compatible with a number of infant car seat adapters, to form a convenient travel system with a variety of popular strollers.
The new Cybex Aton Q infant car seat will be suitable for children weighing 4-35 pounds.
