Egg-decorating has a rich traditional history all over the world, with hundreds of methods for turning fragile eggshells into art. It’s not hard to find cool egg trivia online – here’s a few of our favorites:

1. The original association of hares and rabbits with eggs may have originated because plovers will sometimes lay their eggs in hare burrows. So, some medieval people really believed that baby bunnies hatch from eggs!
2. There is an International Egg Art Guild, “a non-profit association of artists, artisans, and craftspeople who work with natural eggs (yes, real eggs) as an art or folk art medium.” We thought the lacework filigree egg on display on their webpage was especially neat!

The Ravensburger Easter Puzzleball is another cool variation on egg art: it’s a puzzle, but it’s round! The sturdy curved plastic puzzle pieces fit snugly together to form a perfect egg-shape, which then holds together with no glue necessary.
