Baby fingernails are notoriously, surprisingly sharp, and since your newborn baby hasn’t even quite figured out that those hands are hers, she can do a lot of unintentional damage. This infographic gives you a rough idea: your baby has only the best of intentions waving those little claws around, but everyone involved is safer if they’re kept under wraps.
Guavamitts from Guava Kids are an excellent solution for the danger at your child’s fingertips: these adorable stay-put baby mittens do a fantastic job at keeping her from scratching herself (and scratching you). Guavamitts are made with breathable, soft bamboo-derived viscose and cotton, so they’re both eco-friendly and kid-friendly – bamboo fabric is great at adjusting to temperatures, neither too hot in warm weather nor too cool in cold weather. Bamboo viscose also does a great job at wicking away moisture, and has antifungal and antimicrobial properties, so little hands won’t get damp and rashy if your baby wears her mitts overnight.
The Guavamitts also feature a two-part closure that does a better job at keeping them on your wiggly child: elastic on one side, adjustable Velcro on the other, letting you get a comfortable but secure fit that changes as your child grows. Plus, the cute patterns are reversible, with higher-contrast patterns on one side to engage kids visually when their vision is still developing (newborns can see high-contrast patterns better).
See the menu above for sizing and the available patterns (aren’t they adorable?). Guavamitts are made with a 70% bamboo-derived viscose, 30% organic cotton blend; the printed areas are 100% cotton. Machine-wash cold, tumble-dry low.
These are super adorable little mittens. I use them with the Baby Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit to keep my little one's hands warm at night. They are also reversible to cool, stimulating black and white patterns.
