When kids love trains, they REALLY love trains: they’ll take their favorite toy engines everywhere, watch endless train videos, and spend hours arranging toy train tracks and then chugging and tooting around. Some little fanatics even grow up to be big train fanatics, like the folks who created this exhaustive list of over 1,000 songs about trains.
If you’ve got a small railroad enthusiast in your home, they’ll adore the Green Toys Blue & Red Train! This terrific little toy train set boasts clever, kid-tough, eco-friendly design, and will spark many, many hours of pretend-play railroad fun. The Green Toys Train features:
We love how the design of the Green Toys Train encourages kids to add in other toys to their pretend adventures: those toy train cars are practically begging to be filled with other action-figure passengers and fun cargo like LEGOs or play food. Since the whole set is waterproof (no metal axles to get corroded) and dishwasher-safe, it’s also great for the sandbox, and kids can play with their Green Toys train set indoors or outdoors.
And as with all Green Toys, the Green Toys Blue & Red Train set is made from 100% recycled plastic milk jugs, at a factory in the USA, saving energy and reducing greenhouse emissions. The trains have no external coatings to come off if your child chews on them, and contain no BPA, phthalates, or PVC. They come in recycled and recyclable packaging, printed with soy inks. And these are all reasons why you’ll love this train almost as much as your child will! (But your child will still love it more.)
The Green Toys Blue & Red Train set is suggested for ages 2 and up.
* From the Wikipedia entry: “Songs whose titles or lyrics refer to trains only in passing, such as The Clash's "Train in Vain", Gordon Lightfoot's "Early Morning Rain" and Hank Williams's "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", are not included.”
Perfect size for a young child's hands. No sharp edges. Bright colors.
The blue and red train was purchased for our 14 month old granddaughter. The size of the train was perfect for her small hands. We will not give her the action figures to play with until she is older. The train, which was made in the USA, was well constructed and colorful.
