about the Gyrowheel 16" by GyrobikeWe're all looking for a little balance in our lives. You'd like a good work/life balance, a balanced diet, and a higher bank balance. Your child is also concerned with balance: he'd like to learn to balance a spoon on his nose (his older cousin can do it), and he really wants to learn how to balance on a big-kid bike. Training wheels might help, but they add an extra step to the process of learning to ride. And... they're kind of embarrassing. A little bit babyish. Your child is not enthused on being seen with them.
The Gyrowheel not only looks better than training wheels, but is much more effective: it allows your child to learn to ride a big-kid bike the right way from the beginning. A disk inside the Gyrowheel spins independently to create "gyroscopic precession," which makes the bike very, very difficult to tip over. When the rider wobbles, the Gyrowheel re-centers the bike under his weight. So when a child who's new to biking gets on a bike with a Gyrowheel, it's easy for him to start riding his bike naturally, with a sense of confidence and safety.
You can slowly turn down the stability settings so that kids learn to balance on their own. Reviewers report that kids get the hang of riding a bike within their first hour with Gyrowheel – and as you know, once you learn to ride a bike, you never forget!
The Gyrowheel is available in 12" and 16" sizes, recommended for kids from 34-46 inches tall. It fits most kids' bikes without handbrakes, and is quick and easy to install. The Gyrowheel runs on a NiMH battery pack, which you charge by plugging it into a standard outlet.
