While it may sound questionable, it's not impossible to keep a pet shark; PetMD.com recommends the wobbegong, bamboo shark, or epaulette. However, be prepared to spend a bit of money on a big aquarium: the wobbegong can get up to 10 feet long! (It goes without saying that your other pets should be highly discouraged from going near the tank as well.)
Perhaps your shark-keeping adventures should start a little smaller: the Innovation First Aquabot 2.0 comes in shark or clownfish styles, and not only will it not eat your cat, but it doesn't need any food at all! In the matter of fact, it's perfectly safe to put this friendly little guy in your bathtub (or your swimming pool).
The Aquabot 2.0, made by the same robotics company that brought you the Hexbugs series, has two improvements on the original Aquabots: it now has a cool inner LED glow, and it can be activated when it goes to “sleep” by tapping on the included fishbowl. Using electromagnetic propulsion, the Aquabot 2.0 dives up and down and explores its environment like a real fish, but it saves battery power by only running for five minutes before “sleeping.”
The Innovation First Aquabot 2.0 With Bowl set makes a great gift for a kid who's clamoring for a pet but isn't quite ready to care for one yet. Batteries are included, as is some coral to decorate the bowl! Suggested for ages 3 and up.
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
