Marketing Assistant
Magic Beans is currently seeking a new Marketing Assistant. This individual will coordinate and execute marketing plans developed in collaboration with our management team. As a busy, growing retail company, Magic Beans makes it a priority to connect with our existing customers on a regular basis, as well as attract and cultivate new customers through a variety of means. The Marketing Assistant will play a vital role in driving sales through customer engagement and satisfaction and by implementing valuable marketing strategies.
As Marketing Assistant, you would be responsible for coordinating many aspects of our marketing efforts including print, online, in-store marketing, social media outreach, and email marketing. Additionally, you would play a significant role managing large projects and performing complex marketing data analysis.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Marketing
- Maintaining the company's annual calendar for promotions and marketing initiatives and making sure that deadlines are met and objectives are achieved
- Creating and editing written content for email campaigns
- Coding simple emails and landing pages for promotions
- Developing, maintaining, and executing a social media strategy for Magic Beans on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and other sites.
- Creating and editing video for our YouTube channel
- Devising marketing plans to launch new products and promote upcoming events
- Assessing opportunities for advertising or cross-marketing and reporting back on their projected effectiveness
- Helping to brainstorm and execute advertising campaigns, both print and digital
- Editing and publishing blog posts
- Helping to develop campaigns around Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and affiliate program management
- Cultivating relationships with our vendors, members of the press, influential mothers and bloggers
Data Analysis
- Leverage email marketing tools to develop transactional, promotional, and informational content strategies that maximize retention, activation, win-back, and cross-sell programs
- Assessing the delivery and performance of each email campaign on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Looking at sales trends and customer habits in the stores and online to contribute new ideas for promotions and other initiatives
Project Management
- Helping to manage deadlines and expectations for the creative team on a variety of projects, both big and small
- Interfacing with outside marketing vendors and resources, such as PR firms, printers, photographers, etc.
- Communicating professionally and effectively with individuals and groups inside and outside of Magic Beans

You are an outstanding oral and written communicator. You are detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to apply in achieving company marketing goals. You are flexible and willing to adjust your priorities when unexpected projects arise. You are a team player who would jump at the opportunity to take a break from the office and go wrap gifts in one of our stores during the week before Christmas (not uncommon around here).
The Magic Beans headquarters is a dynamic workplace with a small, highly dedicated and multi-talented team. Things can move pretty fast around here, and you need to be able to keep up with the pace. In our open, collaborative office the ability to focus and prioritize is key.
Ideally, we'd like a candidate with 1-2 years of hands-on experience in marketing and analytics. This position offers countless opportunities for hands-on learning and professional development.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Social Media Platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, etc.(intermediate-advanced)
- Microsoft Office Suite w/ proficiency in Excel (intermediate-advanced)
- Adobe Creative Suite and/or Web Suite (beginner-intermediate)
- Basic HTML coding (css is a bonus!) (beginner-intermediate)
- Video editing using iMovie or similar basic application (beginner-intermediate)
- Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics), and search engine pptimization (SEO) strategies
This is a full-time exempt position based out of our office in Brookline. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Excellent health and dental benefits and paid time off.
