One of the wonderful things about imaginary creatures is, you can invent whatever characteristics you like for them. For instance, in Tolkien’s mythology, dragons are treasure-hoarders and are mostly evil. On the other hand, in the Dungeons and Dragons mythology, dragons range from the noble Gold and Silver Dragons to the fierce and greedy Chromatic Dragons, including the acid-breathing Black Dragons.
Kids can learn all about the mythology of dragons, and build their own gliding dragons with the Klutz Flying Dragons book, which comes complete with all the parts needed to build 12 fearsome dragon-shaped flying paper planes! The book is loaded with dragon facts and legends from award-winning sci-fi author Pat Murphy, and tips from aerodynamics experts to help kids make their dragons better flyers.
And of course, there’s the dragons themselves: the Flying Dragons book contains 10 sheets of custom designed punch-out dragon parts and 6 sheets of foldable dragon “hatchlings,” plus parts for a totally cool Robo-Dragon. Tape is included, so all you’ll need is scissors. Reviewers say that the paper airplane-style dragons really do fly well, and kids love playing with them. And since you get so many with the book, this is a great activity for multiple kids to do together! The Klutz Flying Dragons book is suggested for ages 8 and up.
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
