Believe it or not, it’s true: you can learn a lot about physics by flinging a marshmallow across your living room.
The KEVA Contraptions Catapult from MindWare is two toys in one: it’s a fun craft kit that, when assembled, provides hours of fun launching various items across the room. First, you build the catapult with KEVA Planks and wood glue (younger kids will need some help from an adult). Then, experiment! What objects fly farthest? What determines the distance from which you can hit a target? How does the object’s course and distance change depending on how far the arm is pulled back?
The kit includes pre-drilled KEVA Planks, wood glue, a leather strap, a ruler, rubber bands, a cup, two balls, a target mat, fasteners, and a booklet of instructions.
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
a project that is not LEGOs (though, we love LEGOs), can play with it when completed
Could be used to hit others with objects
This has been wonderful for us. My six-year-old son was really into building it but needed help from me, so it was a fun project to do together. I love that he got to practice some patience while we waited for the glue to dry, though it didn't take that long. Once it all came together, he loved playing with it. He has been sending just about anything flying. It comes with tiny bean bags, but he also used balls, crushed leaves, a LEGO, anything he can find. It is great fun.
