I wish I had found this necklace for my first children. Instead of tugging on your hair or real jewelry, the mooma necklace is the perfect size for chubby little fingers to hold onto, suck, or just tug. Although the description says the necklace is intended for nursing, I find it useful anytime I am wearing my baby.

A couple of months ago, after seeing that my chest was being scratched by the little bitty nails of my nursing son, I needed to find something that could keep his wandering fingers occupied during our breastfeeding sessions. So I picked up the Mooma Nursing Necklace at Magic Beans.
As the product description says, the wooden ring is made from natural birch, and is a great size. It is big enough for my son to grab, and just big enough so it looks like trendy jewelry when we are running errands. It's sanded super smooth, oiled with organic olive oil, and rubbed with beeswax. So I often find myself fiddling with it, and doing so, find it rather soothing myself! The brown adjustable organic cotton cord is simple to use. I can slip it over my head and quickly adjust if I need it a little tighter.
Fast forward a couple of months. I am no longer breastfeeding but I still use this necklace as it is a perfect teether. As I carry him in his carrier, he plays with it and chews on it, which keeps him occupied as we pick up groceries. The before mentioned cord turns out to be super strong since my son does yank on it pretty hard and there is no signs of fraying. The look is still great so I often throw it on anyway even if I am heading out the door without him. Othertimes, I take it off and loop the cord around his car seat so he still can chew on it/play with it if I am not carrying him.
I wish the price could have been a little lower, but I have been able to use it for 8 months now and counting! So it has been worth every penny.

I've been happy to have the Mooma for my baby, though I do find the price a little high. [...]Baby does hang onto the Mooma while feeding, and while it is a little long, it is easy to take off and put on using the adjustable strap.I would be a bigger fan of this product if the item reflected the cost...though maybe it would if I had the proper cord.

Works great to keep my toddler daughter from getting distracted when feeding. Instead of 'popping off' every few seconds to look around, my daughter is able to 'play' with my necklace and relax while feeding.
