Being accustomed to the gentle rocking motion of mom’s body from when they were in utero, babies continue to find the same motion soothing as they grow. And they may not know it, but rocking has other benefits, too: it stimulates and trains baby’s vestibular system, which controls balance, helping to form the pathways in her brain that will eventually help her to walk.
The Nuna Leaf Bouncer, designed in the Netherlands, takes a unique new approach to this necessary part of babyhood. Unlike other baby bouncers:
A motion lock on the base of the Nuna Leaf baby bouncer lets you stop the motion for feeding or playtime; a three-point padded seat belt keeps baby safely in place no matter what she’s doing. And the fabrics are about as baby-friendly as it gets: the removable, machine-washable cushioned seat is Oeko-Tex certified free of harmful substances and pesticides. The soft cushioned insert is 100% cotton; removing it reveals a mesh seat that’s still usable and lets more air through for hot weather.
We’ve never seen anything quite like the Nuna Leaf baby bouncer, and we’re so glad we found it! And we suspect you and your baby will be happy to make its acquaintance as well.
Attractive, nice fabric, sturdy, eco-friendly, high weight limit
noisy velcro, too gentle to soothe a newborn
I chose the leaf over the mamaroo because I love the looks of it. Finally a baby product that's not bright, garish, plastic. And I loved that it doesn't need power! Unfortunately I found that it was too gentle to soothe our baby as a newborn, and I went out and got a mamaroo, which can put him to sleep. But now that he's a bit older (3m) he enjoys the leaf!! We have it on the kitchen island, and he's happy in there while we eat dinner. Just give him a little push so he swings (not for 2 min though), and he can see us and interact. I also love that it has such a high weight limit and I hope he will enjoy it for years to come. My only other gripe, as many have said, is the noisy Velcro. I think a sleek magnetic closure would fit well with Nuna's style. Also I'd like a toy bar- but just found that they make one you can buy separately!
lightweight, washable, grows with baby
incline cannot change, velcro harness
My son was small at birth (5.5 lbs) and did not fit well in this initially but he has grown into it and we've gotten so much use out of it! We used it for feeding when he got too wiggly. We used it for sleeping at an incline when he caught a cold around 6 months. We also sent the pad and mesh through the wash numerous times during that cold. Now almost 9 months, we don't use it as much because he can pull himself up to sitting in it tries to climb over the edge even when buckled in. It has been used in every room of our condo. We plan to keep this as "his" chair as he gets better at walking and climbing on things. We love the look and organic fabric. However, I do wish the incline could change and that the velcro harness could be replaced once the child outgrows it and uses it as a normal chair. As designed now, the harness has to stay so the pad stays attached to the mesh seat.
Comfortable, safe materials, easily portable
Would have given it 5 stars, but the velcro is so darn loud that it wakes our sleeping baby when we put her in the chair. Would have given it 4 stars, but so far our baby has difficulty either staying asleep in the chair or awake amusing herself from the swaying/swinging. It's a great chair, great concept, we only wish our baby would like it as much as we do!
Sleek, durable, sturdy, lightweight
We researched every bouncer on the market and are very pleased with our Leaf purchase. It has a very sleek design that goes great with our decor and is very sturdy. It is also lightweight, making it easy to move around our apartment. It was a smooth swinging motion which our 7 week old loves. We are so happy that our little one will be able to use this bouncer for years to come!!!
comfortable, easy to clean, quiet
Loved the chair. I hounded Magic Beans to ship it to us directly from the supplier because we wanted it so badly before the baby arrived. And good thing we got it. The baby loved being on it from the moment we brought him home. It's so nice and quiet. It's very light, so it made it easy to take in and out of his room to place it in the living room rather than leaving some giant swing up the entire time. I would highly recommend it for any parent with limited space in their home.
Lightweight, easy to clean, great design, smooth swinging motion
The Nuna leaf has a great design and shape (I'm love the modern shape), is lightweight, easy to clean and accommodates both a sleeping and an active baby. My son is 8 weeks old and he's loved the Leaf since we brought him home at 3 days old without alternations in the chair to accommodate the newborn versus the 2 months old. It will grow with him for years to come.
Lightweight enough to easily carry around the apartment. I bring it into the bathroom when I take a shower. Easy to clean. It has a removable pad that I've already thrown into the washer several times. Like all babies at 2 months old he loves to move his arms and kick his feet, and the Leaf's wide seat design allows him plenty of space to do this, while keeping him snug enough that he feels comfortable. He often dozes off in it after his usual routine of kicking his feet and swinging his arms.
I like the baby bjorn chair as well, but if we had bought that he would have outgrown it by now. He's was born at 23". The Leaf will grow with him.
I agree with the review of the velcro. It is so loud that it does often wake him up, but it's a small price to pay for a great chair. I used it a lot during the first few weeks during the late night/early morning feedings when I was exhausted and he was fussy. It's easy to get the rocking motion going while facedown on the couch half asleep. It satisfied him and allowed me a few more moments of sleep.
lightweight, removable pad for easy cleaning, smooth rocking style
none so far
My baby is 8 weeks old and he's used the Nuna since we brought him home at three days old. It's lightweight enough to easily move around the our apartment. I bring it in the bathroom when I take a shower.
He loves the chair. He's all smiles in it. The shape allows him a lot of space to move around and at the same time holds him securely enough that he often dozes. I think the baby bjorn chair is great, but if I had bought that he would have outgrown it already (he's very long, born at 23") and it's tight fit wouldn't allow him the space to kick and swing his arms. Doing those late night/early morning feedings when he was fussy I could easy get the chair to swing while half asleep.
I love the design, the rocking and the fact that the Leaf will grow with him.
Space saver, quiet, comfortable, high-quality materials
Needs to be pushed continuously
Love the Nuna Leaf because it is very well made and it soothes and calms my daughter with its natural and quiet movement. It is more compact than large mechanized swings you see from other manufacturers, and of much higher quality. It needs to be pushed more often than I expected, but that's not necessarily bad, as it is a fun way to interact with our little one!
Baby loves the swing with no electricity, looks great
My granddaughter loves it! And my daughter loves that it can grow with her baby. It gives her a nice place to put the baby around the house that she doesn't have to plug in.
comfortable, sturdy, well made, easy to care for, organic fabric, quiet
velcro is loud
Got this to replace our mamaroo when the little one grew out of it, we absolutely loved that, with two exceptions: it only lasts to 25lbs, and if you have a young toddler you're constantly asking them to stay off of and away from it. The Nuna Leaf solves both issues. The toddler - or big kid - can climb on it. She can rock it for her little sister. She can put her dolls and dinosaurs in it, all of them at once, and I never have to worry. As a bonus, it boasts organic materials, no electric/battery needed, great quality, and its quiet - save the darn velcro belt. If baby is awake, no worries, but trying to put a sleeping baby in the velcro harness is a bit of a joke. And there's no way around it, you can't drop them down into it. Glad they didnt go with buckles, because it wouldn't be as durable plus they would add bulk under a big kid, but there's got to be some other option! Regardless, great buy. Totally worth it. My tall 3 year old loves it and has room to grow. 4 month old is sleeping soundly in it right now. :)
