Owls are mostly solitary animals: if they spend time with any other owls at all, it’s usually their mate or their babies. But given the opportunity, owls might discover that teamwork can be a useful skill. In the Hoot Owl Hoot Cooperative Board Game from Peaceable Kingdom, little owlets get back to their nest before the sun rises, by working together!
Hoot Owl Hoot is designed to teach little gamers cooperative skills, as well as simple strategy, taking turns, and following directions. To play Hoot Owl Hoot, each player draws a card with a color on it, and “flies” their owl to that color. If they draw a sun card instead of a color card, the sun moves farther up the board. The objective is to get all the little owls back into the nest before the sun reaches the top of the board, and players can help each other out to get it done. There’s no winner or loser: the adversary in this cooperative board game is the sun!
The Peaceable Kingdom Hoot Owl Hoot Cooperative Board Game requires no reading to play, so it’s a great introduction to board games for small children, starting at age 4. 2-4 players can play, and each game takes about 15 minutes. Also, Peaceable Kingdom games are printed on FSC paper with soy inks, so they’re safe for kids and kind to the earth!
