Virtually every culture throughout human history has created and enjoyed its own musical forms and musical instruments. Percussion instruments were invented first, since anyone can whack a drum and make a sound, and more complex instruments and traditions followed.

The Concertina from Plan Toys is a kid-sized, simplified version of a rather complex instrument: the concertina, a near-relative of the accordion. This concertina has no buttons, so it only makes two notes – one when you push in, one when you pull out. So the objective isn't to play a tune, but that's fine with your child, who will love experimenting with rhythm and making joyous noise!

The Plan Toys Concertina is made from natural recycled rubberwood with non-toxic water based dyes; the bellows is made of rubber. You may need to pull it in and out a few times to loosen it up enough for your child. Recommended for ages 18 months and up.
