The fedora hat has undergone many transformations over time: it was initially named for a hat worn by Sarah Bernhardt in an 1882 play, but shifted into a men’s style in the late 19th century. During the Prohibition era, it was associated with gangsters; during the 1950s and 1960s, it was a common hat for businessmen. These days, the fedora is most widely associated with Don Draper, the 1960s ad exec in the TV show Mad Men.
The Pink Plaid Fedora from San Diego Hat Company takes the classic fedora hat and repurposes it yet again, as a cheeky retro-chic look for girls. The hat is adorned in a series of plaid panels in pink, yellow, blue, green, and white, with pink piping around the trim. Pair it with a teeshirt and some shorts and you’ve got an adorable summer look – and the brim will protect her eyes from the sun, too. Available in toddler and kid sizes.
