Ergobaby has really come a long way over the past few years! They really listen to the parents who use their products, and they just keep coming through for all of us baby carrier nerds (like myself)! In this blog we’re going to take a quick look at their three main baby carrier models:
- The Ergobaby Original Baby Carrier ($129.99 with Infant Insert included)
- The Ergobaby 360 Four Position Baby Carrier ($159.99)
- The NEW Ergobaby Adapt Three Position Baby Carrier ($144.99)
The carrier that started it all, the Ergobaby Original Carrier, is still available, and still great! I’ve always loved Ergobaby carriers but if I’m being really honest, I’m not in love with the fact that the Original Carrier doesn’t provide you with the option to face your baby out, AND you need to use an infant insert up until the baby reaches 12 pounds. I’m generally a warm person, so I find the extra material from the infant insert to be too bulky and warm for me. However, that’s just me!
If the need for an additional infant insert doesn’t bother you, then the Ergobaby Original is a very comfortable three position carrier that offers you an inward facing front carry, hip, and back carry, while your baby remains in a healthy seated position. This carrier holds up to 45 pounds and has very comfortable padded waist and shoulder straps to evenly distribute the weight of your baby.
Many people really wanted the option to turn their baby out to face the world in their carrier. So Ergobaby listened and then they released their Ergobaby 360 carrier. This carrier offers you four carry positions: inward-facing front carry, outward-facing front carry, hip carry, and back carry. The adjustable seat offers great knee to knee support, which keeps your little one in a healthy seated position to protect their developing hips and spine in any carry position.
While you still need to use the infant insert until baby reaches 12 pounds, this carrier holds up to 33 pounds, and I love the redesigned waist belt and shoulder straps, which are more comfortable than ever. The thick Velcro waist band also allows you to sit the band either high or low on your hips, which is great for c-section moms.
So then people (like me) kept squawking about the infant insert issue… I don’t want to need one. That’s all there is to it. And again, in Ergobaby fashion, they listened and gave us the Ergobaby Adapt. Hooray! This baby carrier has three positions: an inward-facing front carry, hip carry, and back carry. The Adapt will hold up to 45 pounds with no infant insert required.
The super-duper padded waist belt offers fantastic lumbar support, and the shoulder straps can even be crossed in the back if that helps you distribute the baby’s weight more comfortably. The greatest feature of this carrier is how the seat truly adapts (see what they did there?) for your baby as she grows. The seat very easily widens to three different width settings, to ensure that your baby’s hips and knees are supported properly in any position.
Basically, there is no bad Ergobaby carrier. Just look at which feature is most important to you and go from there! And as always, we beansters are always here to help you if you have any questions in finding the perfect carrier for you!
