“Governing Law

All travel on, and transactions with, Amtrak is governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States of America, without regards to its principles of conflicts of law. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of any State or Federal court located in the District of Columbia, United States of America, and waive any jurisdictional, venue or inconvenient forum objections to such courts.”

and the District of Columbia “Code Ann. § 2-1402.81 et seq. provides that a woman shall have the right to breastfeed her child in any location, public or private, where she has the right to be with her child.”

Massachusetts definitely needs breastfeeding legal protection so brava for working on that! But I think you can have at Amtrak in the meantime.

When you make the phone calls, you should ask your Senator or Rep not only if they’re in support of the bill, but also if they’d be willing to write a letter to Senate President Therese Murray calling for a vote. It seems like everyone is in support (it passed the House unanimously), someone just needs to be motivated to bring it to the floor.

I have contacted the Senator Creem’s office before on this issue. I will again. Hopefully we will see some protection soon. Good work not ripping into the Amtrak gal Sorry you had to go through that.

Senator Creem is supportive of breastfeeding mothers according to a staffer in her office. So good news on that front!
