We have a saying here at Magic Beans. “You can’t just wake up one morning and decide to design a stroller.” We’re all in favor of parent-entrepreneurs who see an opportunity to improve on a product, or create something entirely new to fill a void, but when it comes to strollers, we’re very wary. Strollers are complicated. Or at least, they should be. There are a lot of moving parts, and for a stroller to function properly, everything needs to stay perfectly balanced and aligned through many miles of pounding the pavement.
This is why we were very skeptical when we got a call several years ago from a new local, parent-owned company, eager to tell us about their new stroller. It seemed too good to be true. And actually, we waited quite a long time before ordering the UppaBaby Vista, mainly because we wanted to see a proven track record first. But once we finally took the plunge, we never looked back. Uppa has been a stellar partner for us, and it’s been great having them just down the road from our store in Hingham. The Vista is a solid stroller with a loyal following, and Lauren and Bob Monahan are thoughtful, creative people who really understand the needs of parents. Each year they find new ways to make the stroller even more functional.
