We’ve been in the market for some new furniture, and Eli and I agree that sitting in a prospective chair is just as essential as, well, test-driving a stroller. So we’ve been sitting in lots of chairs. I’ve learned about optimal seat depth and back height. I’ve learned about different arm shapes and cushion fills. We’ve sat in contemporary chairs and classic chairs, wing chairs and club chairs. Reasonably priced chairs and insanely expensive chairs.
All this has given me a renewed appreciation for the Monte chairs, which all score high on both loveliness and comfort, even as compared to chairs that are twice as expensive. More than once, I’ve suggested to Eli that we just fill our house with Monte chairs. He thinks I’m kidding, but I’m not.
Fine, maybe they’re “officially” nursing chairs, but those same proportions that make them so comfortable for hours of rocking a baby would also work just fine in my living room. Plus, they’re practically indestructible (see last year’s giveaway blog post for details on that) — a huge advantage in my house.
