The Maxi Cosi Mico infant seat, which is compatible with the Quinny Zapp and the Buzz, is already a hot commodity, thanks in part to a production problem that has dramatically reduced the availability of the seat during the first weeks of the US launch. Apparently, a supplier of a key component failed to deliver the correct number of parts, and as a result, Dorel had a much shorter supply of car seats than they had intended.
So what to do? Rather than hold up the launch until everyone who had placed orders could receive product, they released seats to some retailers, leaving others in a bit of a lurch. In many ways this makes sense - it’s not like imminently expectant parents can wait just a few more weeks to get their infant car seats. All the same, I was disappointed to learn that we would not be receiving any seats until the middle of September. Hopefully, this is just a rocky start and things will improve from here. We’ve got our fingers crossed…
