Orbit Baby launched their new Sidekick at the ABC Show, perfect for parents who bought into the Orbit Baby system with their first child and are now expecting baby #2. Their innovative wheeled board design looks more like a skateboard than a traditional wheeled board, and it sits over to one side, creating less interference with the parent pushing the stroller. It also means you can use two Sidekicks on each Orbit stroller. Basically, it’s awesome. The only problem is the Sidekick is not backwards compatible with the older generation Orbit Baby stroller frame.
“Our engineering team spent months trying to make it work on both versions,” explains Vivian Chiang, the VP of Sales for Orbit Baby. “But in the end, we would have sacrificed too many of the great features of the Sidekick.” By all accounts, it was a difficult decision for the Orbit team. But Orbit is a company that has always understood what it means to go above and beyond.
For a limited time, owners of the first generation Orbit Infant System who want to buy a Sidekick can trade up to the G2 stroller frame at a 50% discount off the usual price. If you’re in the Boston area, you can do your upgrade by coming into any of our stores starting on October 29 and going until November 30. We’ll take a picture of your serial number and give you your new Orbit G2 frame and Sidekick for a combined total of $370 + tax (that’s $250 for the G2 frame and $120 for the Sidekick). You can take your G1 stroller frame back and donate it or pass it along to a friend.
If you’re outside Boston, you’ll need to go through Orbit Baby directly. Just email email@example.com or call them at 510-793-5007.
