OXO Tot Sprout High Chair debuts

We’ve just received our first shipment of the new Sprout High Chair from OXO Tot, and there’s a lot to love about this chair. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know that I’m a huge fan of the Stokke Tripp Trapp chair. And while the Sprout doesn’t quite measure up to the iconic simplicity of the Tripp Trapp, OXO has improved the functionality of some key features of the Stokke chair — the adjustable seat and footrest — and they’ve included a nice tray. ¬†These innovations will make the Sprout High Chair a very compelling option.

The Sprout is, as you might expect coming from OXO, a really nice looking high chair. They’ve combined wood and molded plastic to achieve sturdiness, comfort and cleanability, along with sleek, modern lines. The chair grows with your child, starting as a high chair for babies as young as 6 months, and then it adapts to fit older toddlers and eventually kids as old as 5. Because of the molded seat, it won’t work for older kids, teenagers and adults.

There are two seat height settings and four footrest settings. Both can be adjusted without tools (a very nice touch). The contoured cushions are easy to remove and wash and they add a nice splash of color to the chair.

OXO did a nice little video about the Sprout Chair that features the designers and their kids. I thought it was particularly cool that they made sure the tray would lie flat on a table once it was removed. The Sprout High Chair comes in three colors  and sells for $249.99.

  1. I love the “old time” wooden look of this chair. You can’t find many high chairs that are wood anymore. Everything is plastic. So this chair gives the look of our past as children but the actual chair has that clean feel with being easily cleanable. LOVE IT!
