The first is still the best: Bugaboo was the brand that invented modular, multifunctional luxury strollers, transforming an entire industry. Based on the stroller that Max Barenbrug debuted at his graduation for the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the first Bugaboo stroller raised everyone’s expectations, and Bugaboo has been steadily raising them ever since.
The Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller 2017 is the latest evolution of the iconic Bugaboo Frog, refined to perfection by their dedicated engineering team. The 2012 redesign that resulted in the Cameleon 3 (or C3 if you prefer) was a full-scale effort, tweaking a wide variety of features to make them more user-friendly – the fold was improved, the under-seat bag was supersized, a new height-adjustable harness was debuted, and the bassinet was redesigned to fold flat.
Only minor changes have appeared since – a harness here, an extendable sun canopy here – and today’s change is simple as well. The 2017 Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller just got a simple style upgrade: it now features the luxurious faux leather handlebar and carry handle that was only previously available on Special Edition strollers.
It’s a subtle change, but one that seems obvious in retrospect – it’s such a perfect fit! Plus, the faux leather is going to wear better than the previous foam materials used, and that’s just so Bugaboo. After all, when you buy a Bugaboo stroller, you totally get what you pay for: that quality means that it will still be rolling in ten years and looking great!
A quick refresher on what differentiates the Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Stroller from the rest of the Bugaboo stable, since we’re debuting two more ‘Boos today:
- The Cameleon is a lighter-weight, compact single stroller, weighing 21 pounds.
- Like the Donkey and the Buffalo, the Cameleon 3 can handle a wide range of terrain; it also has terrific adjustable suspension, letting you customize the bounce for your child’s weight. The really unique trick that the Cameleon does, though, is this: you can reverse the handlebar to put the larger rear wheels up front, for a better push over rougher roads. You can also click into two-wheel mode for sand and snow.
- Also like the Donkey and Buffalo, the Cameleon 3’s seat frame doubles as a sleep-safe bassinet or stroller seat simply by changing out the included fabrics. It’s also easy to transform your Cameleon into a travel system, since you can find infant car seat adapters for many popular car seat models. This makes it so much easier to transfer your baby from the car to the stroller or the house – no need to unbuckle a napping kiddo from her car seat!
- The stroller seat on the Cameleon is reversible and has three recline positions, for waking, relaxing, and lie-flat napping. The stroller also has a height-adjustable handlebar and a rotating carry handle.
