VIDEO: The best stroller travel systems of 2016

baby asleep in infant car seat

The noise and motion of a car provides a sleep environment that many infants enjoy, perhaps even a little too much: a study claimed that the average British family drove 1,322 miles in a year to get their baby to sleep!* Regardless of how you got the baby to sleep, after he’s dropped off, the LAST thing you want to do is wake the baby up. Period. This is why travel systems come highly recommended.

If you can attach your car seat to your stroller, then when you transfer your baby from one set of wheels to the other, you can spare your baby any buckling, unbuckling, or unnecessary jostling that might interrupt his blissful slumber. Plus, it just plain makes babies more portable: click the seat off of the car seat base, click it onto the stroller, and you’re ready to go!

While an all-in-one travel system that comes in a single box can be great, we’ve noticed that the strollers in these systems can be clunky monsters that we don’t love to push or fold, and that even if they’re on the nicer side, you may wind up liking the car seat but not the stroller, or the stroller and not the car seat. That’s why we’re of the philosophy that when you’re buying for baby, you shouldn’t just choose a car seat and stroller because they go together – and since there’s a dizzying array of car seat adapters available that let you mix and match, you don’t need to!

With that said: while only one of the travel systems in this video comes packaged together, our favorite brands just do a better job than most in considering what their customers are looking for in both a stroller and a car seat, and that’s why these matches are Magic Beans approved. In this video, Nat Davis, one of our champion bloggers and gear gurus at Magic Beans Boston, demonstrates our top picks for 2016!

To review, those top travel systems for 2016 are:

best travel systems britax b-agile b-safeThe Britax B-Agile Stroller & the Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat: Pairing a light, nimble, and easy-to-fold stroller with a highly-rated car seat, this all-in-one system just makes life easier!

The UPPAbaby Cruz Stroller & the UPPAbaby Mesa Infant Car Seat: The UPPAbaby Cruz is a zippy suburban stroller, adapting many of the best features of the popular UPPAbaby Vista for a more driving-intensive lifestyle, so pairing it with a dedicated infant car seat that goes on with no adapters is a no-brainer. And the MESA is a truly awesome infant car seat, with a really great base installation and extraordinary crash testing scores.

The Nuna Tavo Stroller & the Nuna Pipa Infant Car Seat: The Pipa is one of our very very favorite infant car seats – this lightweight beauty was the runaway favorite when our team composed our own fantasy baby registries. And the Nuna Tavo Stroller is a lighter, more car-friendly little sister to the robust Nuna Mixx: it even carries the Pipa without the need for an additional adapter! It’s a match made in stroller heaven.

After you’ve watched this video, if any of these travel systems are calling your name, the best thing you can do is pay them a visit in person at any of our six New England area stores! We encourage you to try before you buy – a stroller test drive will ensure that you feel great about your purchases – but if you’re not up here in the chilly Northeast, it’s still easy to access our expert advice. Give us a call at 866-600-2326, or sign up for a FREE consultation, and our stroller geeks will help you decide which travel system is the right fit for you.

*If this is your kid, save yourself some gas money and get a 4Moms Mamaroo Bouncer! It has a Car Ride setting – it’s a real lifesaver.
