Bugaboo Bee Plus and minus

Monday, March 8th, 2010

When we first caught a glimpse of this new evolution of the Bugaboo Bee stroller, Bugaboo was calling it the Bugaboo Bee Plus. Now, they’re referring to it simply as the Bugaboo Bee 2010, maybe because “B+” underpromises the “A+” improvements made to the stroller between the last version and this one.
I wasn’t always a [...]

Orbit G2 available for preview and preorder

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

We’re big Orbit Baby fans around here, so we were psyched when Orbit invited us to participate in the pre-launch of their new G2 Infant System and Stroller. Our Brookline and Wellesley stores are among the first stores in the whole country to have an actual G2 available for demonstrations and test-drives, and our web [...]

Ready to Grow

Friday, February 5th, 2010

Both my sister and my sister-in-law are pregnant and due in June. It’s the second baby for each of them, which means we’re talking about double strollers. A lot.
In 2004, I was starting Magic Beans while finishing my second pregnancy. All the research I’d done about double strollers was doubly important - for me and [...]

Maclaren Recall (it’s OK - really)

Monday, November 9th, 2009

First of all, calm down. Yes, Maclaren is recalling one million strollers. And yes, some children have been injured by the strollers during the past 10 years. BUT. There are two very important things to keep in mind:
1. This is a voluntary recall - in spite of the injuries (and their frightening nature), the CPSC [...]

Orbit goes G2

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

“Concept strollers” were all the rage at the ABC Show, with lots of manufacturers showing off interesting ideas that may or may not come to the market. But while “concept” is the label Orbit Baby is applying to their new G2 product line, I got the impression it’s more a question of “when” than “if.”
The [...]

Baby Jogger City Select a winner

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Between the judging for the JPMA Innovation Awards and the main part of the show, we spent a lot of time with the new Baby Jogger City Select. The stroller did win the coveted prize, and it was the talk of the show. I know many of you are curious to see and hear more [...]

Bugaboo makes the grade with Bee Plus

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

At an exclusive cocktail party last night, Bugaboo offered a sneak peek at the new and improved Bugaboo Bee Plus, slated for release in Spring 2010. The Bugaboo Bee has slowly become one of my favorite strollers, but it is not without its challenges. The learning curve for turning the seat can be a bit [...]

Bugaboo partners with (RED)

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Earlier this summer, our account manager at Bugaboo asked to come to Boston to meet with us to deliver some exciting news in person. Must be a new stroller, we guessed. A double? We were hopeful - even more so when we had to sign a non-disclosure agreement before the meeting started - but she [...]

First Look: Baby Jogger City Select

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Here’s a scoop: in advance of the upcoming ABC Kids Show in Las Vegas, we stumbled upon an ad today in an industry magazine that had us scraping our jaws off the floor. Baby Jogger is apparently introducing a new stroller, the Baby Jogger City Select, a hybrid stroller that can accommodate one child or [...]

Mountain Buggy production moving to China

Friday, August 21st, 2009

It’s hardly a surprise, but a big disappointment nonetheless. According to an article from a New Zealand media outlet, phil&teds has made the decision to move Mountain Buggy production from New Zealand to China. But I’ve never met a Chinese-made stroller that comes close to the solid, sturdy feel of the Mountain Buggy.
When our friends [...]
