Day 20 – Uppa Baby Vista Stroller

We have a saying here at Magic Beans. “You can’t just wake up one morning and decide to design a stroller.” We’re all in favor of parent-entrepreneurs who see an opportunity to improve on a product, or create something entirely new to fill a void, but when it comes to strollers, we’re very wary. Strollers are complicated. Or at least, ... Read More »

Day 16 – Valco Trimode Stroller

Way back, at the very beginning of Magic Beans, before the store was even open, I was working out of my kitchen. One day, the phone rang, and the voice on the other end asked if I’d ever considered trying Valco strollers in my store. I knew two things right off the bat. One, he had no idea he was ... Day 14 – BOB Revolution Stroller

Here’s some irony to start your day. With my first baby, I tried 12 different strollers before her first birthday. And I didn’t like any of them. I started Magic Beans to help parents avoid making the same mistakes I had made, and find the right stroller (or two) to fit their lifestyle – on the first try. With my ... Read More »

Day 12 – Mountain Buggy Swift

Today’s 31 Days of Giveaways prize is the Mountain Buggy Swift. Smaller and narrower than most 3-wheel all-terrain strollers, the Swift preserves the nimble handling that is the hallmark of the Mountain Buggy brand. My sister and brother-in-law were the first consumers in the US to own the Swift, and they’ve been using it for 10 months (read about their ... Read More »

Day 3 – Baby Jogger City Mini Single

I’ll never forget the first time I laid eyes on the Baby Jogger City Mini stroller at the end of an exhausting ABC show in Las Vegas. I knew right away and without question that it was a slam dunk. Since that day, I’ve tried many times to channel the feeling of total confidence I felt looking at that product, ... Read More »

If you’ve been on the fence about getting a Frog or Cameleon, now’s the time to take the plunge (the prices on the Bee are going to hold steady for the time ... Read More »

Bugaboo Bee recalled

The CPSC announced today that the Bugaboo Bee stroller has been voluntarily recalled. Apparently the brake mechanism can wear out over time, causing it to fail on one or both sides. Thank goodness, no injuries have been reported. Anyone using this stroller should stop using it immediately and contact Bugaboo to receive a free repair kit. The form is simple ... Read More »

The long-awaited Uppa Rumble seat is now in stock, and to celebrate, we’re throwing an Uppa-tacular party in our Hingham store this Sunday, May 17. If you’re an Uppa-vangelist, you won’t want to miss this, especially if you’re considering a Rumble Seat upgrade. We’re running three great promotions: 1. In Hingham only: for those who own a pre-2009 Vista model, ... Read More »

Baby Jogger releases City Micro series

When I saw the City Mini stroller for the first time in Las Vegas in 2007, it was love at first sight. My reaction to the new City Micro wasn’t quite as strong, but I do think they’ve hit a great price point. At $159.99, the City Micro single is a great option for a car/travel stroller. As with all ... Read More »

Cybex preview

I spent some time in Kentucky reviewing the Cybex product line that will be coming soon from Regal-Lager. Here’s what I learned. Cybex is a fairly young company. They released their first product in 2005, a belt-positioning booster that has received multiple prestigious awards for the safety technology and engineering incorpoated into the design. All the products are German-designed and ... Read More »
