Aqua Dots Recall
Categories: Recalls

Isn’t this getting to be ridiculous already? Today, the CPSC announced a recall of the brand new Aqua Dots product line from SpinMaster. These little beads were designed to be a sort of three dimensional alternative to the popular classic Hama Beads (those little tubular beads that fuse together when you iron them). The Aqua… read more!

Triple whammy

First of all, I am so flattered by the lovely comments on the birthday post. You really made me feel great. Thank you. But the party’s over and I have three new product “issues” to share with you. First, Britax is recalling a limited number of Marathon car seats manufactured between May 23, 2006 and… read more!

Two Modern Crib Recalls
Categories: Recalls

Stokke and NettoCollection have both issued voluntary recalls related to their cribs. The issues are completely unrelated to Chinese manufacturing. For Stokke, the problem is with the mattress. Some of the mattresses included with the cribs were made too small, so they leave a gap between the edge of the mattress and the bars of… read more!

Britax Decathlon Recalled
Categories: Baby, Car Seats, Recalls

My hair is going gray this week, I swear it. A customer gave us a heads-up today that Britax has issued a voluntary recall of the Decathlon. I’m wondering why, in the flurry of e-mails that I’ve received from Britax over the past few days regarding other matters, this wasn’t even mentioned, but perhaps I’m… read more!

Fisher Price Recall
Categories: Recalls

I know, I know. I’m late on this one. I nearly had a panic attack at the gym last night when I saw CNN reporting on nearly a million recalled toys. I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard it was Fisher Price, which we don’t sell in the store. But then I realized… read more!

Thomas Wooden Railway Recall
Categories: Recalls

Oh my goodness. I’ve seen a few recalls since we started Magic Beans, but this one isn’t doing good things for my blood pressure. Apparently, one of the manufacturers in China who make the Thomas Wooden Railway products for RC2 has been using lead-based paint on the products. This is a voluntary recall and it… read more!

Evenflo recalls 450,000 infant seats
Categories: Recalls

This news broke at the end of last week, and actually I wasn’t even going to write about it. I usually just cover recalls that effect merchandise we’ve sold in the store. But in this case, because the recall has such a broad impact, I’m going to make an exception, even though we have never… read more!

e3 Recall

The CPSC has today announced a recall of the Phil and Ted’s e3 Buggy. This is a voluntary recall due to an “abrasion hazard” to children when they are seated in the rear position of the toddler seat. A while back, I reported that Regal Lager, the US distributor for Phil and Ted’s was sending… read more!

Spoon Recall
Categories: Recalls

BabySwede just announced a recall of the Baby Bjorn Feeding Spoon. Evidently, after extended use, the soft tip of the spoon can separate from the handle, creating a choking hazard. While there have been no reports of this defect in the United States, there have been 11 known instances of the problem worldwide. No injuries… read more!

Britax Boulevard Recall
Categories: Baby, Car Seats, Recalls

Britax has just announced a voluntary recall of the Boulevard car seat. Apparently, they’ve realized that the top tether hook can release or break when the seat is used in the forward-facing position with a child over 50 lbs. For the time being, Britax is asking consumers to stop using the top tether once the… read more!
