Day 3, a brush with greatness
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Travels & Trade Shows
I’ve had a TiVo for longer than almost anyone I know. Seriously. I think I got my first one in 2000. Each week I use it to capture our favorite shows so we can watch them here and there late at night. Sometimes my husband and I have different tastes when it comes to selection…. read more!

Gone Gaga for Good
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Baby, For Dads, Mommy Gear, Travels & Trade Shows
I have this friend of a friend. She went to business school, where she developed a plan to start a business designing clever products for parents. After graduation, she followed her dream and got down to work. I met her a couple of times, and while I was very impressed with her, I wasn’t sure… read more!

Everyone’s a winner…
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Travels & Trade Shows
So sorry. I have shirked my blog responsibilities in favor of blackjack. The good news is, we won $50. The bad news is, I’ll have to try to wake up early to post about all the great things I saw today. Wish me luck. Good night.

Fussy baby? Put away the car keys.
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Baby, For Dads, Newborn Essentials, Travels & Trade Shows
When you’re bleary-eyed in the middle of the night with an inconsolable, shrieking newborn, you’ll do practically anything to soothe the savage beast. Conventional wisdom has it that colicky babies often calm down with a ride in the car, or, in a pinch, strapped into a carseat on top of a running clothes dryer. Something… read more!

ubi changes everything
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Baby, Modern Nursery, New Products, Travels & Trade Shows
This easily the most brilliant thing I saw during my first day of the show, and I’ll be really surprised if I see something that trumps it over the next three days. The ubi is billed as a modern changing table, but it’s more than that. It’s really a design innovation that will set parents… read more!

How d’you Doomoo?
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Baby, Modern Nursery, Newborn Essentials, Travels & Trade Shows
I’ve been a huge fan conceptually of the Doomoo chair since I first heard of it more than two years ago. Maybe it’s sentimental. I bought a similiar, adult size chair from a European furniture store in a fit of entitlement when my first pregnancy went overdue. Ambling around downtown Boston, hugely rotund and completely… read more!

Phil & Ted & Ted & Ted & Ted
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Baby, General, Strollers
I know how many of you are waiting for an update on the Phil & Teds situation, so I made sure to hit that booth today to get the details. I have no photos to share – they were incredibly vigilant about that. What I found was a bit strange. I’m not sure I understand… read more!

ABC Show – Day 1
Categories: ABC Show 2007, General, Travels & Trade Shows
I have a lot to cover, and I’m not sure how long I can keep my eyes open and be coherent. I will do my best. The show is, as expected, enormous and utterly overwhelming. But with quantity, fortunately, comes quality. I got through roughly 1/3 of the show today, and had plenty to get… read more!

Talk about open ended
Categories: ABC Show 2007, Building Toys, Toys, Travels & Trade Shows, Travels & Trade Shows
We did a survey of our customers this month, and we asked for opinions about the kinds of products we should be looking for at Toy Fair. One phrase came up again and again – “open ended.” So we were on a mission, to find open-ended playthings – toys that can be used again and… read more!

Hyperinteractivity

Lately, it seems like everyone is talking about Webkinz. These stuffed virtual pets are all the rage among middle school kids all over the country (if you’ve never heard of them, read my previous entry about them here). So it’s not really a surprise that their success is spawning at least a handful of eager… read more!
