I was wondering how you could leave for Israel so close to Drool! I am so happy for your adventure and cant wait to read about it – I also cant wait to see you tomorrow at Drool – you do have a great team that puts on the best events!!! Hi Danielle!
Good luck with your cake. Let me try to clarify the 3 frostings and the roles they play.

1. The whipped cream (cookies and cream filling) is just a filling to go between the layers.
2. The chocolate frosting goes on the outside of the whole cake, and then you can do a layer of thinned out frosting (use milk, not water) mixed with the crushed cookies for a dirt effect.
3. The buttercream just goes at the top of the volcano for decoration.

In the vase for the “eruption” you don’t put any of the frostings – you put the marshmallow fluff mixed with warm water and red food coloring.

Just went yesterday and found the spot vacant wow I was shocked I had just told my son in NJ how I wished they had that store near him for my grandtrs bcz you had everything and it was a fun place to shop and try things out w the baby . there are surprisingly so few toy and baby shops anymore the big stores are just for purchasing not experiencing a fun shopping little adventure I hope u find some new spot on south shore you’ll be missed

My daughter loved this store and is heart broken that it is now closed!
It is too bad that the Hingham store had to close. Has the Magic Beans Comaony considered other South Shore locations?

Matthew, thanks so much for your post. I was considering buying 2. We have four children including a set of twin babies. We already own some phil and Ted’s products, but wasn’t sure about the me too chairs. The video looks convincing and if You hadn’t written your post, I’d be buying these seats. With four children, my undivided attention on the babies seat safety, which I would trust to be safe especially considering they are phil and teds, is not realistic. How horrific. Yes, I agree. Shame on phil and ted’s. Thank you again, mommy of 4

Saw your amazing cake while looking for a cool cake for my son’s upcoming birthday. We’re doing a science party and what could be better than an exploding volcano? I am a tad confused about the 3 frostings. Am I correct that when you say to fill the ring with whipped cream you mean the cookies and cream filling? Or do you mean the buttercream? Hate to ask the obvious, but am I right that the cookies and cream filling is for the center, and the jar sits on top of it; the buttercream is for inside the jar (and any decorating); the chocolate frosting is for frosting the volcano itself, and you suggest then pouring a bit of watered down buttercream on top of it (colored brown, with cookie crumbs inside) at the end? Whew! Hats off for figuring all this out

I am so saddened to hear the Hingham store is closing! It has been my go-to store for birthday presents and items for my own kids. While I would like to shop the other MB stores, they are not close enough for the typical toy shopping excursions. Like so many others, I hope you will open another store in the South Shore. There is no substitute for the quality toys and helpful service I found at Magic Beans. Independent toy stores are hard to find, but the ones I like to shop at and support. Good luck!

Say it’s not so!! I am a Scituate grandmother who has brought her two grandsons, now 4 and 2, to your store since they were infants. You have no idea how comforting the little play area in back was for a person who is not the youngest or most agile caretaker in the world. The boys entertained themselves alone or with others in the area for a long time, and the kind and friendly store staff never questioned whether we were buying something (which we almost always did) or asked us to move on. They went in and out of the little house, cooked treats on the kitchen stove, rode the ladybug, bounced on Rody, pushed the doll carriages and inserted items in and out of the mailbox. If your competitors are such stores as Kohls, Walmart and Target, that’s like comparing apples to oranges. Perhaps they offer the same products but far from the same atmosphere of play and excitement. I will never forget my 18-mo. old grandson Ben squealing when I would pull into a parking space in front of your store – “Beans, Nunny, Beans!” Thanks for the memories.

I am so saddened by this news!! Like everyone else, I have LOVED the Magic Beans store since it opened its doors on Derby Street 5 years ago. My sons, who are now 4 and 1, have grown up with your store! I can’t tell you how many rainy days we would head out to MB, just to buy a toy or two and play in the play area. This is the end of an era for us. =(

So sad to hear you guys are leaving- your store has been a tradition for my 3 girls and I for the past 5 years! Lunch ,Whites Bakery then Magic Beans store- when I told my 5 year old she said ma they can’t leave -I had to reassure her they will just be in a different spot- don’t worry! I just have to say your store was such a special place and I can only hope you guys find a new south shore location sooner than later- after meeting and talking with the store owner Eli today I could feel his passion for the great community the store has brought and will do all he can to keep that connection here in the SShore! Thanks so much Eli for having such a great vision and for the great 5years of service from you and your awesome staff!

This news makes me so sad. If it weren’t for your store and wonderful service I would not have found a suitable baby carrier for my son two and half years ago. I’m soon expecting another baby and was looking forward to the shopping convenience and unique variety that I found in your location. You will be sorely missed by me and my family.

Totally bummed out. We love MB and done a lot of business there. Understand your position but sad to see you go. PLEASE consider another South Shore location!!!!! And GOOD LUCK!
