Day 3: Perfect Picnic Pair

Growing up in New York City, picnics were a rare event. But when they happened, oh my goodness. Once a year, Wave Hill, a local public garden, would allow picnicking, weather permitting. On the years when the weather permitted, my mom would cook up a storm. We’d watch the sun set over the Hudson River and feast on salads, sandwiches and pie.

The only small disappointment was that the picnic blankets were never quite as comfortable as I’d hoped. You could feel every pebble beneath you, and if the grass was at all damp, the moisture would seep right through.

Nowadays, the picnic blanket situation is a totally different story. There are so many great products on the market to provide a comfortable and water-tight experience. One of the newest options is the Skip Hop Central Park, and just as you’d expect from Skip Hop, they thought a lot about the way a family might use this product.

The Central Park opens up to a generous 5′ x 5′ and folds back up quickly and compactly. It’s water-resistant and canvas-backed. Best of all, there’s a zip-off ¬†cooler bag to hold your snacks.

For Day 3 of 31 Days of Giveaways, we paired the Central Park with the new Skip Hop Bento bag, a fully-featured diaper bag with a Bento meal kit nestled into a pocket at the bottom of the bag. The meal kit is an insulated cooler bag with three CLIX containers and an ice pack.

So for a perfect picnic, pack up your Bento bag with all the necessities for an evening out, and a bunch of snacks for the kids. Pack up your Central Park with sandwiches and maybe grab a bottle of wine (if that’s your thing). Find a nice, grassy spot and enjoy.
