The Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen is designed to let kids try on a whole lot of grownup roles during their pretend play: it integrates a play store, a play kitchen, and a play serving area, so kids can be the cashier or the customer, the chef or the waiter, a parent cooking or a kid being cooked for, and more! Realistic detail and tons of accessories create an imaginary world that kids will inhabit for many, many hours.

The Fresh Market Kitchen includes:

A play kitchen, market, and dining area, with realistic “wood” paneling and “stainless steel” details – it has a bit of the feel of a Whole Foods market, or perhaps your local co-op grocery store;
An electronic register that really calculates, with a credit card, a key, and a scanner with light and sound effects;
A stove with a “copper” range hood that lights up; the burners light up and make fun bubbling and sizzling noises when the knobs are turned;
An eating area with place settings;
A 47-piece accessory set, including a reusable grocery bag, 2 “wicker” baskets that fit into cubbies on the kitchen side, pots and pans, silverware, a strainer, salt and pepper shakers, and 20 pieces of play food.

The design of the Step2 Fresh Market Kitchen is totally unisex, so both boys and girls will find it immediately alluring. Kids will “buy” food, “take it home and cook it,” and “serve it” to their parents and friends for years to come. Some assembly is required (if you’re getting this as a birthday or holiday present, set it up before the kids see it!); 4 AA and 3 AAA batteries are required, not included; for ages 2 and up.
