Safest carseat, hands down

Stroller wheels?

The Orbit Baby infant seat is the best infant seat on the market. My husband is an Engineer and I am a Scientist, and when we were expecting our first child, we seriously read up on every single car seat out there. Obviously, there were the generic cheapos like Graco, Evenflo, etc which did not attract us as those meet the minimum requirements set forth by NHTSA. Orbit Baby is different, their carseats go ABOVE those minimum requirements, and one can realize that just by looking a the design. It's SO easy to use and encourages extended rear facing which is an absolute must in today's society. The car seat is light weight (trust me, I am tiny, at a mere 93 lbs post partum) and so easy to dock and release. The materials are of high quality and can be easily removed for washing. They sell the foot muff which is a must have for any winter baby. The base is the original one handed fold with a click to lock it into place, and it's designed for the stroller seat to be placed on top when folded. The stroller is very durable, we have had it for 2 years and we use it for about 5 days a week..... you cannot tell that it's even a few months old with how good it looks. Our Bugaboo started to rip in 2 places after 6 months of much less use, so I was expecting the Orbit to be of a similar life. Well I am happy to report that's not the case. We definitely recommend this stroller to anyone that can afford it, you will not regret it!

The only feature I liked about the Orbit was the 360 degree function and that it was so compact (but there are so many other great compact strollers). The infant car seat is so so heavy that after a while, I just decided to leave it in the car base and take the baby out (birth at 6lbs to now 4 mths at 11lbs). The seat is also too narrow and won't work if you have a bigger baby. I'm always struggling to get him out because it's so narrow. I also purchased the side baskets and because of that, when I collpase the stroller it doesn't close all the way. The basket frame is always in the way.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Pros:

We've used the Orbit Baby infant system for over a year now since our son was born. I love every aspect about this stroller/car seat combination.

Installation of the car seat base is simple and quick thanks to the StrongArm mechanism and simple alligator clip system for the LATCH clips, it took me about 60 seconds to get it in place correctly. The design of the base also includes anti-rebound protection, something rarely found in most other infant seats and sorely lacking in the US (common in Europe). Its a shame that Orbit Baby doesn't market this feature more.

The stroller chassis is SO SIMPLE to fold, just lift and twist and it collapses and locks ITSELF in place and stores quite flat in the back of our SUV. We also have a tiny Scion xA and can fit it either in the back seat area or trunk area, too. While at the mall waiting for a parking spot, I once saw a dad trying to get the Bugaboo to collapse and he finally gave up and chucked the whole thing in the back of his SUV (and kicked it a few times), I felt really bad for him! Maneuverability is great and it pushes and turns easily and is a very smooth ride.

The infant seat is great, our son is still quite comfortable now that he's 13 months (still not over the weight limit yet!). When he was an infant, the paparazzi shade was our favorite feature and kept strangers from trying to touch him when we were out and about. He also slept longer and we could keep the sun off him too. I also love the design of the handle, its very soft and flexible so 1) I don't have to worry about it being a hazard in a crash and 2) I can carry the seat easily. The infant seat is a bit on the heavy side but I found myself getting used to it pretty quickly.

The diaper pod slides onto the chassis and was a bit stiff at first but the G2 redesign has made it even better than ever.

We traveled to Dublin over Christmas and the entire system was a breeze going through the airport, the seat fit great into a regular Aerlingus coach class seat and went through the xray machine. We were stopped CONSTANTLY in Dublin. Everyone wanted to know about our stroller.

We also have the panniers which are a total must have and used the bassinet both on the stroller and as a Moses basket around the house docked into the rocker.
