about the Solitaire Chess

We’ve all had those slow, drizzly Sunday afternoons where the whole family is slouched on the couch, hiding out from the weather and dozing in front of the TV. Days like this, your child’s brain could use a little exercise – perhaps a challenging logic game?

Solitaire Chess from Thinkfun puts your brain on the treadmill and gets it running with 40 challenges, from Beginner to Expert. The moves in Solitaire Chess are the same as ordinary chess, but without an opponent, and you capture all the pieces until only one Queen, King, Rook, Bishop, Knight, or Pawn is left standing. Even if you don’t know the rules of chess, the rules of Solitaire Chess are truncated so they’re easy to learn, and kids who want to learn chess will find that Chess Solitaire makes it easier to pick up.

Playing Thinkfun Solitaire Chess teaches logic, spatial reasoning, and planning ahead, since some challenges require you to visualize more than one move ahead (just as in a real chess game). The game board has a storage drawer for the pieces and challenge cards; a rulebook is included as well. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD - Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.
