We got our first box of these when our son was 2. The easy assembly allowed him to build and play on his own. As he got bigger, we had to buy another box since he wanted to build larger structures. He would play quietly in his room building farm structures for his plastic animals to live in, or castles for his pirates. A definite must have. I suggest going with the 100 piece set as you will need it. He is now 6 and still plays with these.

Magna-Tiles are an absolutely fabulous toy. Fun, colorful and very durable. They are the kind of toy that you buy for your kids, but the adults find themselves wanting to play too! We started out with a small "starter set" but quickly found that our kids wanted more tiles to make bigger and better structures. Then, the grandparents got them the 100 pc. set as a gift... My kids were ages 4 and 7 when we first started playing with Magna-Tiles. Now they are 6 and 9...and they still enjoy building with them. The only negative, if there is one, is that Magna-Tiles are a bit pricey. Nevertheless, I would recommend them highly to my friends.
