About the Sophie the GiraffeBabies everywhere in the world are much the same. They spend most of their time sleeping and eating; they enjoy a snuggle, and love nothing more than gazing up at your smile; and they enjoy a nice soft teething toy to chew on.
And their number one choice is Sophie the Giraffe, from Vulli, in the French Alps. Sophie’s knobbly head is irresistible for babies to munch on, and teething on Sophie the Giraffe happily soothes baby’s sore teething gums. Sophie’s body is lightweight, and her many chewable limbs are easy to grip. Sophie’s natural rubber teether body is soft to the touch, and has a subtle smell that babies love. And best of all: Sophie the Giraffe squeaks!
First manufactured in 1961, the Vulli Sophie the Giraffe teether (or, Sophie la Girafe, if you prefer) is a beloved sidekick of babies everywhere. Babies love Sophie the Giraffe so much that we recommend getting two – you don’t want to be caught out if one disappears. And get one for your friend who’s expecting, because every baby loves Sophie!
The Sophie Giraffe teething toy is made with 100% all-natural Hevea rubber and finished with non-toxic paints; no phthalates; certified safe. Measures 7” tall. Wipe clean with a warm, damp cloth.

4.0 beans out of 5.0 beans Mostly greatJune 12th, 2013 Pros: Durable, easy to clean, good size Cons: Traps water This famous Sophie the Giraffe is a worldwide known toy that even my friends' kids in Korea all have one. I purchased this for my 4 month old daughter. In the beginning, she couldn't quite get her little hand around any part of the Giraffe. She liked the squeaky noise it makes. Generally she plays with it while we are out in the stroller. She doesn't pay much attention to it at home. I washed it with water everytime she played with it since it all goes into her mouth. I noticed some water that went in through the hole in the back of the giraffe and I had to squeak it for a really long time, while shaking it to get the water out. I'm wondering what happens to the water I couldn't get out. I'm hoping it dries but I don't want that squirted into my baby's mouth if she's licking it and squeezing it. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. You flagged this review Sophie the Giraffe Kate Rockland, Ma

4.0 beans out of 5.0 beans Apparently, not every baby likes Sophie!June 13th, 2011 Pros: Colorful & Fun, Durable, Easy to Clean, Easy to Grip, CUTE, Engaging I've met so many babies who are absolutely in love with Sophie, so when my daughter started teething, buying the toy was a no-brainer. She's cute, she's safe, she squeaks and she feels good on the gums. What's not to like?
My daughter was not a big fan, though! She didn't care to use Sophie as a teether, and only started to like her when she learned how to make her squeak. She now plays with her because she gets a kick out of the squeaking sound. But I like the toy, and I'll be buying it as a gift for other babies. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. 4.0 beans out of 5.0 beans A must-haveJune 11th, 2011 Pros: Easy to Grip, Engaging, Easy to Clean, Colorful & Fun Cons: Possible gagging hazard A friend from France got us ours - and it was an instant hit with our son, then about 8 months old. He chewed on Sophie constantly, we took her everywhere - needless to say, now she's lost much of her lustre (and that nice smell she has at the outset! Addictive...) Great teething toy. We did have one or two gagging incidents where our son pushed the legs a bit too far into his mouth. So while it's not a choking hazard (too big) it can be pretty uncomfortable if pushed back to the throat! But they learn fast to not do that... I have the feeling the new design might have shorter legs but am not sure. In any case: we loved it enough to have bought it for at least 5 friends' babies by now. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. You flagged this review Sophie the Giraffe Donna Hingham, Ma
5.0 beans out of 5.0 beans Best teething ToyJune 11th, 2011 Pros: Easy to Grip I have five children so I didn't need anything when it came to my fifth. A friend got my this and what a thank you. It is so soft perfect for teething as all other toys are too painful when they try to chew them. Also the legs are the right size for little mouths but don't have to worry about swallowing it as the rest is so big. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. 4.0 beans out of 5.0 beans Nice, but is she really a rockstar?June 10th, 2011 Pros: Easy to Clean, Durable, Engaging, Easy to Grip, Colorful & Fun I must admit, it was Sophie's rockstar status that first drew me to her. After all, this petite piece of rubber has over 20 facebook pages dedicated to her from around the world and millions of loyal fans.
When we first got Sophie, I was mildly obsessed with her and my son was, in a word, uninterested. Every time he opened his mouth, there was I, gently forcing Sophie's little smiling face in, only to be rejected time and time again.
By the time he reached four months, he finally started showing mild interest in using Sophie's ears to reach the back of his gums. And now, by five months, he laughs when she squeaks and happily chews on her face and feet.
While I won't say she's quite "the teether to end all teethers"(as she's been touted), she's definitely a toy to keep in the diaper bag or on hand for emergency teething situations. And, she's so darn cute. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. You flagged this review Sophie the Giraffe Renee Hull, MA

5.0 beans out of 5.0 beans Great Teething ToyJune 24th, 2010 Pros: Easy to Grip, Easy to Clean, Engaging, Durable My child has loved Sophie since he was about three months old. It's a great, durable toy that is easy to grasp and great for babies to chew on. It's not too hard, so it won't hurt their gums and also makes a delightful squeak when you squeeze it. It's a good size for babies to grasp. Also, it cleans easily and can stand up on a table. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. You flagged this review Sophie the Giraffe Jack's mom MA
