Under the direction of inventor Andrew Zenoff, they made a list of everything that was wrong with nursing pillows. Some caused lower back pain due to improper support, resulting in poor latch-on. Some u-shaped nursing pillows caused babies to roll inward or outward, making feeding really tricky. After making observations like these, the team obsessively produced over 50 prototypes in a single year.

This pillow was too bulky to take out of the house, where it might have been helpful if I was nursing in a chair without arms. At home, I found I didn't really need it if I was in a comfortable chair. Our baby also outgrew it quickly, and by 12 weeks it wasn't usable.

I used this with my son- I really liked how secure it felt- since it will clasp behind you. The little bumps on the pillow also help give your child that little lift that might be helpful for him or her to reach.

When my first was about to be born, my more experienced twin sister took me to the store to register for baby products. She used a boppy and suggested i register for one as well.
That's when i saw the Brest Friend. Despite it's slightly tacky name, I totally fell for it and registered for it immediately. I am SO happy that I received it as a gift because it was the one thing i could not live without when i was a first-time mom. I used it for every feeding. It was incredible--i could use it anywhere and even walked around with it while feeding my daughter. I loved it's back/lumbar support--incredible! I love that it clicks in and is adustable. I love that it has a little pouch--perfect for a cell phone that you don't have to fumble for when you hear it ringing and you're feeding your babe. I love it's cushioning for your baby's head. I loved the Brest Friend and used it constantly in the early months of my baby's life. It gave my arms a break by holding the baby's weight, and the wrap-around design supported my back and kept the pillow in place against me. The slipcover was made from soft, machine-washable fabric. (I would definitely recommend getting a spare cover, so that one cover can be used while the other is being washed.)
I found the Velcro strap annoying, though, because a piece of the strap hung off the end without any Velcro to stick to, and it got bent and caught on stuff.
