Baby Jogger City Mini Recall
The CPSC announced late yesterday a voluntary recall of 41,000 Baby Jogger City Mini strollers, both double and single models. The issue is that the buckle clasp on the 5-point harness can break or become unlatched creating a fall hazard.
Consumers are advised to stop using the strollers and contact Baby Jogger to receive a replacement buckle.
I have seen the new buckle side by side with the old one, and the improvement is obvious. The new buckle is constructed of heavier plastic and has a deeper “bite” than the old one. The replacement process should be relatively painless, but we have found that there is some variation as to how thick the seams are at the tips of the harness straps. The thicker the seam, the more challenging it will be to pull the straps all the way through. I called Baby Jogger this morning to ask how they are advising customers to handle this, and was told that pliers are helpful. I asked to have the instructions emailed to me, but am still waiting to receive them.
No injuries have been reported. To contact Baby Jogger, call 877-506-2213 between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET, or email recall@babyjogger.com. The full CPSC alert has instructions for determining whether your stroller is affected by this recall. Our current stock already has the new buckles and is not affected by the recall.
