Bugaboo Bee recalled
The CPSC announced today that the Bugaboo Bee stroller has been voluntarily recalled. Apparently the brake mechanism can wear out over time, causing it to fail on one or both sides. Thank goodness, no injuries have been reported. Anyone using this stroller should stop using it immediately and contact Bugaboo to receive a free repair kit. The form is simple to fill out, but you need your stroller’s serial number (I had trouble locating it, so I took a picture – see left). The most recent models manufactured already have special brackets installed to keep the brake in place when it is engaged. If you aren’t sure whether or not your stroller needs the repair kit, Bugaboo has a helpful image. I own a Bee (and love it), and mine will need to be repaired. I’ve filled out the form and should receive a repair kit within the next 2 weeks. Once it arrives, if the repair is not completely straightforward, I will post photos and/or video. This recall encapsulates my entire experience with this particular stroller: overly complicated but utterly worth the hassle.
