Do you need a baby rocker or baby bouncer? Yes, yes, you do!
Babies love rocking and bouncing motions, especially when they’re very small. So while you’ll definitely build up some mama muscles giving your baby the motion that they crave, you’ll need a rocker or bouncer to give your arms a rest (or if you’re rushing to cook dinner, or if you need to take a shower). Our bouncers are also easy to move from room to room, so you can keep your baby close at hand while you take care of other tasks! Here are a few of my favorites: the 4 Moms Mamaroo and Rockaroo, the Nuna Leaf, and the Baby Bjorn Bouncer Balance.
The 4 Moms 2015 Mamaroo is available in both a soft plush and the classic nylon seat fabric; each has a three-point harness for safety and an adjustable seat recline for comfort. The Mamaroo has five different motions that are patterned after motions real parents use to soothe their babies: the “car ride,” the “kangaroo,” the “tree swing,” “rock-a-bye,” and the “wave,” as well as five different speeds to entertain or pacify your young one. Along with these motions, the Mamaroo has built-in nature sounds, or you can plug in your MP3 player to provide your own lullabies!
The 2015 Mamaroo model boasts a larger LED screen to make viewing the controls easier, and Bluetooth compatibility that lets you use your smartphone as a remote! With this feature, you can change up the motion or sounds from the next room over, so you won’t risk waking up a baby who has finally gone to sleep.
The 4Moms Rockaroo is similar (and is also available in plush and classic), but instead of five different motions, the Rockaroo slowly swings back and forth like a rocking horse, with five different speed settings. The Rockaroo does not have built-in sounds but still allows for an MP3 player to be plugged in.
Both the Mamaroo and Rockaroo come with three colorful toy balls, which can be placed over your baby’s head for entertainment. Furthermore, both rockers are made of easy machine-washable material, which is important because we all know how babies can make messes!
The Nuna Leaf Floating Baby Lounger is also very popular, but is an entirely different sort of rocker: instead of using electricity, it sways side to side with the occasional gentle push from you. There’s no long cord to plug into the wall, no need to replace batteries, and no sound whatsoever – no buzzing, rattling, or music. The Leaf is a very rare baby bouncer in that it remains useful beyond infancy: it has a maximum weight of 130 pounds, so it makes a fun swaying chair for toddlers and older kids too!
As with the Mamaroo, you can remove the fabric from the Leaf’s seat and machine-wash it. The fabric is also carefully selected to be free of toxic chemicals and pesticides.
Last but not least: the Baby Bjorn Bouncer Balance! This child-powered bouncer is made of the softest 100% cotton fabric and polyester padding, to allow your child to feel snug while bouncing away! Because your baby moves herself in this bouncer, it helps to develop her motor skills, balance, and formation of muscles in a natural way, as they learn to jiggle their seat with the kick of their legs and flail of their arms.
The Baby Bjorn bouncer features four great recline positions: “play” (mostly upright), “rest,” “sleep” (mostly flat), and “transportation” (completely flat, for storage). Only weighing around 4.5 pounds, this bouncer effortlessly lets you move your child from room to room while finishing daily chores, and is a breeze to travel with to grandma’s house, giving your child a chair no matter where you may be!
This blog is only an intro to some of our bouncers and rockers – there are plenty more on our website and in our stores! Come on in and pay us a visit, and I’ll be happy to give you a tour of the rest of our selection, so we can find the bouncer that’s just right for you and your baby on the way.
