Some updates from trade shows just absolutely can’t wait until you get home, so while we’ve already had the Doona Infant Car Seat / Stroller on our radar, after seeing it at the ABC Kids Spring Show today, we wanted to make sure you know about it ASAP!

The Doona Infant Car Seat / Stroller merges the components of a travel system into a single product: instead of snapping your infant car seat onto a stroller or frame, you just pop out Doona’s wheels and get rolling! It radically cuts down the schlepping you have to do in transit, and it’s especially valuable in travel situations:

Traveling in the city? Need to hop into a cab? No need to hold up traffic by putting a stroller or frame in the trunk: just pop open the wheels on your Doona, belt it securely into place in the back seat, and head off to adventure!

Traveling by plane? No need to go through the fuss and headache of checking your stroller and lugging your car seat onto the plane – just roll right onto the plane, tuck the wheels away, and secure your baby’s car seat into her plane seat.

The Doona Infant Car Seat can also be installed with a base, giving you a second installation option: along with seatbelt installation (with a European-style belt path, which makes installation a breeze), you have the option of having a base installed in your car, which the Doona can snap on and off of in seconds. The base is sold separately, but it looks like a really great option – along with convenience, it will likely add even more safety features to your seat. While the decision hasn’t been finalized, the Doona company is mulling over adding a load leg to the base, which does a superior job at limiting rotation in the case of a collision. Doona Stroller Transformation Unlike many other products that try to do two different things and wind up doing both badly, the Doona is both a superb car seat and a superb stroller. We love how much attention has been paid to finding exactly the right, top-quality materials for every detail of the car seat and base – luxurious fabrics, the right plastics, the right metals, and more. We love how it feels to push this stroller – like Bugaboo strollers, it’s engineered from the ground up, and you can tell!

And we love how wonderfully easy it is to use. Because yes, the Doona Infant Car Seat is a very attractive product, and yes, the concept sounds good, but ultimately, we’re dedicated to finding the products that make your life easier. And Doona does it!

While specs have not been absolutely finalized, we anticipate that the Doona Infant Car Seat / Stroller will be suitable for your baby to use from birth to 35 pounds or 32” of height, it will weigh 15 pounds, and it will cost somewhere around $379 – $399. We anticipate having stock around January of 2015.
