Monterey on the way
Sunshine Kids unveiled their follow-up product to the incredibly successful Radian car seat, a belt-positioning booster seat called Monterey. This is the first booster that is truly designed for a 100 pound child, with adjustments that will perfectly suit the proportions of smaller children as well.
As compared to the Britax Monarch, the Monterey seat is 1.5″ deeper and the headrest goes 2″ higher. The side impact protection is comprehensive, and there’s a dial on the back that adjusts the side wings in and out to fit the passenger. There’s EPS foam at the hips, shoulder and head, and the seat is covered with a thick, high-density EPE foam for comfort. The Monterey has LATCH connectors to keep the seat positioned in the car, though of course the seatbelt is required to secure the child. There are even two nice, deep cupholders, AND the back removes so you can use it as a backless booster, too. Nice job, guys.
The Monterey should be available by February of 2008. I did not get pricing information yet.
