UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. Nuna Triv | Stroller Comparison

UPPAbaby Cruz V2 vs. Nuna Triv | Stroller Comparison

UPPAbaby vs. Nuna: the clash of the century, or so it seems. Ever since Nuna came to the American market, the two brands have been in close competition. Both offer top-quality products in similar categories. Before the release of the Nuna Triv the original UPPAbaby Cruz was competing with the Nuna Mixx. However, both brands have upped their game with the introduction of the new Nuna Triv stroller and the redesign of the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 2020. We’re here to help you decipher the differences between the Cruz V2 vs. Triv.

Both of these strollers are ideal for single-child families because they only have the capability to have one seat. UPPAbaby is planning to release a ride-along board for the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 but there is not one available yet. You can get around this using the Lascal Buggy Board Maxi which is universal and also compatible with the Nuna Triv. The reclinable seats can hold up to 50 pounds and can easily be turned world-facing or parent-facing. To make your day-to-day adjustments of the stroller easier, both the Nuna Triv and the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 have adopted no-rethread harness systems that allow you to slide the harness up gradually as your child grows.

Leatherette details and quality textiles give the strollers an elevated look that sets them apart from bargain brands. High quality puncture proof tires prevent you from ever needing to worry about tire maintenance. Although both strollers can be used as a travel system in conjunction with an infant car seat, the Nuna Triv is only compatible with Nuna brand infant car seats.

 Nuna Triv

The Nuna Triv is a compact stroller with a streamlined design that makes travel a breeze. It boasts four wheel suspension and an adjustable handlebar on a frame as light as a car seat snap and go. With the toddler seat attached it only weighs 19.4 pounds, and as a car seat caddy it weighs an amazing 14.6 pounds. It can be folded smaller than the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 which saves precious trunk space for groceries, luggage, or whatever else you are bringing with you. Just to add to your convenience the stroller can be folded with the seat in either direction, and using only one hand which leaves your other hand free to hold your baby, groceries, or diaper bag.

The Nuna Triv comes with an included ring adapter for their infant car seats. This adapter is unique in that it folds with the stroller, preventing the adapter from increasing the size of the stroller when folded. When you are out with your baby for the day, the toddler seat is fully reclinable for use from newborn so you don’t have to keep them in the car seat longer than is recommended. Additionally, you can remove the cushioned seat liner to reveal a mesh summer seat underneath for those hot summer days. This removable liner also makes the stroller easier to clean since it can be put in the washing machine.

UPPAbaby Cruz V2

The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 stroller is slightly heftier than the Nuna Triv, weighing in at 25.5 pounds, but with that extra weight comes a more durable frame and better wheels. The wheels are significantly larger and thicker than those of the Nuna Triv, and provide a smoother ride over small cracks and bumps. For larger bumps in the road, the all wheel suspension with dual action rear suspension kicks in to keep your child comfortable.

The toddler seat is only appropriate for use once your child is sitting up on their own, but you can purchase the UPPAbaby bassinet or UPPAbaby Infant SnugSeat to use the stroller from newborn. You also have the option to use the stroller with infant car seats using adapters from several different brands including Nuna, Cybex, Clek, and some other options available on the market!

If you’re looking for a stroller in a fun color that won’t get lost in the crowd of grey and black, the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is a great option for you! It comes in nine different colors that allow you to express yourself. In addition to encouraging you to express your individuality, the UPPAbaby Cruz V2 won’t cramp your style by limiting how much you can carry with you! The extra large easy access basket can hold up to 30 pounds and has a hinging arm - no more cramming a packed diaper bag into too small a space!

   Summary

Overall, both of these strollers are high quality and you can’t go wrong with either option. However, with that being said they do cater to two slightly different types of use. The UPPAbaby Cruz V2 is optimized to be a workhorse stroller that is able to take the wear and tear of everyday use in stride and provide a smooth easy push for your child and belongings. You might see it most often in city settings where families use the stroller as their vehicle or in the suburbs where families stroll more in parks or on gravel and need the extra suspension and larger wheels. On the other hand, the Nuna Triv is ideal for families who will be using their stroller primarily on flat surfaces like sidewalks or shopping centers or need a light, quick, and easy stroller for an on-the-go lifestyle.
