About the Cybex Cloud Q Infant Car Seat 2017/2018

Ever try to fall asleep on an airplane, or in a car or a bus? While an adult’s body is made to sit and stand upright for long periods of time, sleeping while sitting up is just tough and uncomfortable, and that goes double for babies, whose newly-minted muscles just aren’t made to sit up, even at a recline. Your infant car seat is an indispensable piece of safety equipment, but most of the time, your newborn is better off lying on her back.

The average infant car seat will always prop babies up a little, but Cybex doesn’t do average: in the Cybex Cloud Q Infant Car Seat, when you take your baby out of the car, you can recline the seat to turn it into a lie-flat carrycot! The new position is more comfortable and ergonomically correct, for proper breathing and spinal development, so your child can chill and snooze anywhere she goes.

Here’s a rundown of the features on this terrific new infant car seat:

  • Lie-flat positioning: When you take your child out of the car and are carrying her car seat, or when you click it on your travel system, just pull down the backrest and footrest to create the lie-flat position.
  • Automatic height adjustment: Even in the car, the Cybex Cloud Q is designed to ferry your child along in the flattest position possible, to keep her head from tilting forward. You don’t have to do anything extra to adjust the height: it adjusts as you move the headrest! This feature was developed with the help of German medical specialists and midwives.
  • Telescoping Linear Side Impact Protection (LSP): As with the previous Aton Q model, the Cybex Cloud Q features pop-out arms that add even more protection by transferring the first forces of an impact to the car seat’s shell, so the flexible material and structure absorb the impact and channel it away from your child.
  • Height-adjustable headrest and harness: The 11-position headrest is integrated with the harness, so when you adjust the headrest upwards, the harness automatically lengthens – no rethreading! This ensures a comfortable and safe fit and prevents misuse. The harness also features extra-wide Y-harness straps with a soft belt and crotch pad.
  • Sun canopy: The gigantic sun canopy on the Cybex Cloud Q infant car seat is both lovely and supremely practical! It provides UVP50+ sun protection that meets the stringent Australian standard, and when you don’t need it, it tucks neatly away into the color-coordinated visor.
  • Base: The Cloud Q uses a similar base to the Aton Q, with all the same terrific safety and ease-of-use features. The base can be easily installed with LATCH, with deluxe push-on lower connectors, or with a seat belt and belt tensioning plate (you can also install the Cloud Q without the base, so it’s simple for cabs, airplanes, and other travel situations). Along with all of the other amazing safety features of this seat, the base adds a load leg, which adds stability and limits rotation in the event of a collision.

With all of this high-tech innovation, it almost seems like expecting too much to expect this seat to also be as glamorous and stylish as it is! Check out the top menu for all the lovely color combos available.

The Cybex Cloud Q Infant Car Seat is designed for use with babies weighing 4 to 35 pounds, and up to 30 inches in height, and the seat itself weighs 13.9 pounds. The car seat base is included.

Q: Which strollers are compatible with the Cybex Cloud Q Infant Car Seat?

  • Baby Jogger City Mini & City Mini GT

Had trouble reclining, but continue reading.

The overall BEST that's out there.

Recline is at first not easy at all the first time, but super easy later.

The reclining is hard to understand. I had to find a YouTube video to show and tell me. You have you grab the back latch UP, WHILE PUSH down all the way the whole car seat, and will expand.

It is heavy and a bit bulky, but this is usually good for safety. I love it, that I called Cybex to double check if I could still use it after it's limited weight/height - whichever is first.

Okay, if you have a YOYO, it might be a little problem as expanding while attached onto the stroller, you have to nudge it away from the YOYO button as the bulky car seat could push the button.

Overall, no problems. I highly recommended it that I got the Cybex Sirona M Sensorsafe 2.0 for grandma's car.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Would be worth it if it worked

safe, reclines, great design

heavy, no audible click for locking on to stroller, recline oftten doesn't work, seat belt on some cars won't fit around seat

This seat is significantly heavier than most other car seats, but I wanted to get it after watching my sister constantly being afraid to remove her son from his car seat when he was asleep. If my LO could slumber peacefully, but without being hunched into a sitting position, great. I was also attracted to the feature that allows it to be used without a click-in car base -- where you can use a seat belt to secure it around the outside.

When this seat does work, it's wonderful. There have been times when my LO has been peacefully napping in the seat, and I'm able to bring her inside and recline her next to me. Other times, I've reclined it in the Priam frame and used it as if it were a bassinet while out and about. It's great not having to choose between waking her up and having her in a more comfy position. The times we've traveled, it's been great just buckling her into cabs, too.

BUT... for ~$400 I'm incredibly disappointed with how frequently it doesn't work. From day 1 the recline feature was stiff and I often had to wrestle it from sitting to laying. That became easier over two months of use, but then getting it back into sitting has become harder and harder since then. It won't click into place, and we spend 15-20 minutes wrestling with it trying to just get it to work. If we didn't have a baby, that amount of time would be irritating. With a baby, it's a nightmare. At this point, my husband has asked me to stop using the recline feature at all because it's so hard to get it back to sitting. So basically the extra cost for that one feature was a huge waste.

Also, some automobiles don't have seatbelts that fit around this seat. One of the cars that this seat won't work in without a base is a Toyota Camry.... which two of our LOs grandmas have. I'd originally thought that the high cost of this seat would even out because I wouldn't be buying one cheaper seat and several extra bases, and could instead just buy a quality seat that could easily switch between cars. Instead, I paid more for a seat that won't recline and can't be used in the other cars. Now I find myself loaning my car to the grandparents if they take my LO out because this seat just won't work in their cars.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Superb carset! Compliments galore!

Style, Large Sunshade, Cozy, Safety Features, Fit and Adjustments

Stellar carseat and, IMO, worth the cost. The lie flat option is excellent for bringing your kid in from a car ride who's sleeping and you just want to let them nap or when using as a stroller lets them rest more comfortably. The style is eyecatching and rarely do we not get compliments on "that awesome exoskeleton carseat" (exoskeleton because the sunshade has loose fabric and bars). Having a bright orange carseat makes you stand out a lot too. The fabric is very cozy and I love how many impact points the seat creates between the load leg, the handle in "drive mode" against the seatback, and the LSP bar. Super easy to adjust the straps and head rest height, even while our son is in the seat. Only gripe is it's a bit heavy to carry.

Fancy AND practical

8 out of 9 people found this review helpful

Versatile, recline makes it unique, multiple ways to secure (via base or via seat belt)

Delayed US deployment, not quite lightweight, base incompatibility

This is a remarkable product in its class. Well-designed, modern-looking, functions seamlessly as both a car seat and a stroller carry cot. ISOFIX base makes installation and transfer a breeze. Fits all Cybex strollers and most others with Maxi Cosi adapters.

1. Base incompatibility - compatible with European base for Aton Q and Cloud Q, NOT compatible with US base for Aton Q and Aton 2.

2. Base (ISOFIX) cannot be secured in the middle seat (US base likely can be, but installation still remains cumbersome if the load leg cannot be deployed). Securing the seat in the middle with a belt, however, is a breeze.

3. The attachment mechanism for stroller adapters is not straight vertical, but slightly slanted towards the back. Adapters work great for Cybex strollers, but with some other brands seat may be unacceptably tilted downwards in the front.

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Cybex Cloud Q | Reviews | Ratings | Prices | Magic Beans

Cybex has given parents extra safety and convenience with the Cloud Q! In this video, Eli describes our favorite features of the Cybex Cloud Q:

Load leg: It’s an extra stabilization point to secure the car seat in the event of a crash.

Tensioning plate: This ensures installation and secures your LATCH connectors. Also, it’ll allow you to install a Cloud Q with just a seatbelt! This is convenient if you’d like to install it in the middle seat of a car where there is no LATCH compatibility.

LSP: Standing for Linear Side Protection, LSP prongs pop out and absorb energy for extra support in a side impact collision.

For convenience's sake: While the Cloud Q is attached to a stroller you can recline your baby! Use this instead of a bassinet so your infant is as comfy as possible

The Cybex Cloud Q is available at for free shipping!

The Cybex Cloud Q is unique among infant car seats because it’s designed to recline when you take it out of the car and snap it onto your baby stroller, putting your baby in a more comfortable and developmentally appropriate position for long walks. Because the marquee feature of this infant car seat is used only outside of the car, though, that leads to a common question: what strollers can it click onto?

In today’s video, Eli Gurock, co-owner of Magic Beans, demonstrates how the Cloud Q clicks onto almost all of our most popular strollers, including models from Bugaboo, Cybex, Baby Jogger, Nuna, Stokke, BabyZen, and more. As you’ll see in the video, aside from the Priam, you’ll need to purchase a Maxi-Cosi infant car seat adapter for all of these other stroller models.
