Madpax Backpacks: Turtles, Dinosaurs, Koopas, and Kindergarten

We all know that we’re supposed to root for the good guy in the movies, but some bad guys are just irresistible. Like Darth Vader, or Cruella De Vil, or the Wicked Witch of the West, sometimes bad guys just steal the show. Let’s face it: the mild-mannered Mario Brothers suffer in comparison to their nemesis, the much cooler-looking Bowser, the King of the Koopas.

Conceived as something between a turtle, a dragon, and an ox, the fire-breathing Koopa appears in nearly all Super Mario video games. He’s an enormous lizard with horns and a spiky shell (which is a great weapon in Mario Kart), and his modus operandi is usually to kidnap Princess Peach, who Mario then needs to rescue. Occasionally Bowser has some other nefarious agenda, such as turning dinosaurs into fossil fuel.

So that’s why, when your kids see the Madpax Spiketus Rex Backpacks, they’ll say, “It looks like Bowser! I want one!” These big, tough backpacks make a big, tough fashion statement, with stegosaurus spikes all over, and sturdy construction that can handle a serious workload.

The outside is durable leather, and the inside is a breathable polyurethane and nylon blend, which lets air through on hot days. Two exterior side pockets and an interior zippered pocket help kids stay organized, and padded straps and breathable back fabric make Madpax comfortable to carry, too. Available in pretty in punk colors like pink, purple, and orange, as well as boy-friendly blacks, browns, and faux snakeskin, Madpax bags will appeal to both avid video gamers and, well, pretty much everyone else, including plenty of parents.

Instead of using it as a backpack, you might consider the enormous Madpax Full Pack as a very unusual diaper bag, since at 17” x 12” x 9”, you can fit everything you need in it. Kids under age 5 or so will find a Madpax Half Pack easier to handle, at 14” x 12” x 3”.
